Second Skin Damplifier is a 1.15mm (45mil) pressure sensitive mass loading
damper consisting of a rubberized asphalt membrane with an aluminum
heat shield. Once the layer of Kraft paper is removed the adhesive surface
is exposed which forms a secure bond to the mounting surface of your
car, yielding optimal deadening performance. In other words, it’s
a layer of thick aluminum foil covered in sticky goo that attaches itself
to the panels in your car that vibrate. The goo absorbs the vibrations
creating a quieter, more comfortable ride.
We recommend installation of Second Skin Damplifier on any high vibration
areas of your car, including: Inner door skins, ceiling, cabin side
fire-wall, front dash, rear dash trunk floor, & trunk lid. Second
Skin Damplifier is not designed for use under the hood of your car or
in any part of the engine compartment.
SPL competitors across the world have been using mass-loading
products for years to decrease panel flexing, and increase sound pressure
levels. Installing a single layer of Second Skin Sound Damplifier can
decrease cabin noise by as much as 3 decibels! Muscle car enthusiast
have be utilizing mass loading products for years to decrease road noise
and keep out loud engine noise and exhaust resonance. Second Skin products
also add sound comfort found only in most luxury cars to the old classics
that came equipped with no sound deadening at all. If you are restoring
an old car and want to sound like you’re driving a BMW. Second
Skin products can help you meet your goal.
