Teaching guitar has become a truly rewarding experience for me. I have been playing guitar now for nearly 9 years and love it just as much, if not more, than the first day I picked one up.
Its a great blessing to have been given the opportunity now to share my enthusiasm and love for guitar to others who wish to learn how to play.
The most important piece of advise I always stress to my students is not to compare one's self to another in ability...Everyone has their own unique sound, and to be able to express that is a very precious and great gift to have. Always have fun playing too; don't expect yourself to be the next Jimi Hendrix or Edward Van Halen...be happy and excited to be you - I guarantee that there are things a novice guitar player can do proficiently that Eddie or Jimi cannot.
When learning how to play the guitar, also take time to learn to have fun at whatever degree of ability you have at guitar...Because as long as you're having fun at what you're capable of it'll continue to be rewarding to you in life for as long as you enjoy it.
