Greetings, from the frozen depths of the St. Lawrence valley of Montreal Quebec, and the far reaches of the Lake Champlain region. I hope this letter finds you warm, safe and happy. Like many people who are tired of the frozen months, I’ve decided to do something about it. My name is Steve and the purpose of this letter is to offer a dream vacation of a lifetime at a price that can’t be beat. If this e-mail reached you, then you are part of a network of friends and families, which are in some way connected to me through various avenues. For example, you could be a friend of a friend of a friend or relative, etc. Somewhere on this spectrum you are chosen and given a chance to take part in a great opportunity. I’d like to apologize for the chain letter but it is an inexpensive way to promote this idea. Please read through and/or forward to as many people you know, as they might be interested as well. Here is the dream, Just imagine sailing away with a calm Caribbean wind pushing you towards your destination. The Captain, me, and First-mate/chef, Nicole, takes care of all of your gourmet dinning wishes and vacation needs as you “island hop” around the Bahamas, U.S. Virgin Islands or British Virgin Islands. Where a typical day is spent relaxing then watching the sun set splash into the horizon. Ahead, imagine being surrounded by crystal clear turquoise waters with the warm Caribbean sun melting away all of your worries for a week or two and allowing great masses of positive energy to help you enjoy the day. Not to mention the nightlife of St. Croix and various other tropical ports. This is available to those of us who desire the good life and have never been able to afford it. Here’s the pitch; I’m starting a charter business. It is called “ Caribbean Dream Sailing Adventures Club”. This charter company will operate from Tortola in the British Virgin Islands during the late fall, winter, spring and early summer months. One goal is to sail into the Mediterranean in the summers during the second year. Now before you hit the delete button, please here me out. I am real and I am not trying to scam money from anyone. I’m not trying to become rich from this I’m trying to simply enjoy life more and share the benefits with other folks. Here is how you get involved. First of all, you have to become a member of the club. There are only 2500 memberships available and anyone can join in by sending $100. This purchases membership in the club. Membership benefits included are 75% discounts on charters, a chance to win a free one-week vacation for two three different times once per year for three years. Free 1-day sailing adventures in the BVI or New England coast (A $150 value). With your dues paid we will send you a coupon for discounts, exclusive membership card and number, an e-mail news letter update (updating the progress and availabilty of memberships), and a free pass for a one day charter for two in the BVI’s or New England coast. Also, take advantage of more benefits as they are added. There will be 12 double occupancy vacations given away each year for three years and the odds of winning are 1:208. One key benefit is to purchase a vacation at an incredibly low cost of $700 per person double occupancy (A savings of 50% - 75% compared to other charter companies. Prices can be offered at lower rates depending on the size of the boat we purchase.) If you have your own party of 2-6 people, and wish to sail in the company of friends, than then the rate is $4800. This is important, as your vacation money will be held in escrow until the boat sails, at which time the dream becomes reality. Your membership fees and pre-purchased vacation money is secure in the event this doesn’t take off but we think positive around here. When it does take off then your vacation becomes secure. Essentially what is happening is that your vacation, in late 2003-2004, is paid for in advance which helps us to purchase the boat and accept clients. If this fails then your money is returned at no penalty. Advance purchase is important, as it will allow you to take this discount for three years on other vacations. This means that the normal rate is what we charge for non-members, $1800 per person double occupancy or $10,800 for up to 6 people. The vacation prizes are double occupancy on a shared charter with other winners from the member list or by space available on other shared charter or “Party Cruises” (separate couples sharing charters.) The times of sail are not guaranteed at this time and I will have more information as we progress towards our goals. Soon you will be bathing in a secluded lagoon, snorkeling, sail boarding, and dinning on gourmet cuisine. You could be exploring the islands, dancing, experiencing the local culture and sampling great local treasures. The possibilities are unlimited and the dreams are real. All we need is commitment. Come share the dream. Here’s how it works. Your pre purchase is pooled together allowing the purchase of the yacht. Remember this is a small company and anything is possible but patience is a virtue. A 50’ pre-owned yacht costs around $130,000 –$200,000. We can find one less expensive but there are risks involved with reliability. This size is desired for this type of business, and it can hold six passengers and two crewmembers. Normal charters for this size yacht go for $1200-$2400 per person per week. I’m offering it out at $700, a 50% - 75% savings. After 9/15/03, I will begin the process of securing the yacht, finding a port of call, and setting up with vacation charter yacht management sales people. By the middle of November we will be in full operation and ready to take passengers. Of course, to expedite the process is determined by the response from you all. The date 9/15/03 is not written in stone and as people get involved then changes can be made. It would be important to keep in touch even if you are just thinking about it. I am a member of the Club, Captain of the ship, and primary investor. I also am spending the time building this club and marketing this club. I believe in it and that it will happen and I am dedicated in doing so. The possibilities are endless. We could eventually purchase more yachts and grow the club, which will create more opportunities for members to sail. Remember if we can’t deliver we will refund all of your money including the membership by the end of September 2003. If we do deliver then you will receive a dream vacation at a great price and you can brag to all of your friends who will be freezing in the winter of 2003-2004.
