To Dance Beneath the Diamond Sky with One Hand Waving Free...

Music:"She Said, She Said" The Black Keys

Two first years from Slytherin broke into the common room yesterday, I believe. They each lost 100 points and gained one week's detention and a one-thousand word essay on the importance of rules from McGonagall. In addition, a kid from Gryffindor copied from someone in McGonagall's class, so he's lost us 120 points! And he just lost another 25 for lying to McG about why he did it. How bloody wonderful. But the bloody idiot got suspended in the end. ::applauds::

Tia and Allie still aren't out of the Hospital Wing. I wonder how bored they are?

I sent a letter to Alan two days ago, and he says that the family is looking forward to seeing me again...I miss them so much!

Lyrics of the Moment: "Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)" (Neil Young)

Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.

Out of the blue and into the black
You pay for this, but they give you that
And once you're gone, you can't come back
When you're out of the blue and into the black.

The king is gone but he's not forgotten
Is this the story of Johnny Rotten?
It's better to burn out 'cause rust never sleeps
The king is gone but he's not forgotten.

Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye...

Positively Tangled Up.

Music: "Tangled Up in Blue" Bob Dylan

Mitchell got sorted! Mitchell got sorted! ::dances about:: He's a Hufflepuff. We won't get to see each other *all* the time, but that's cool. I'm just glad to have a member of the family here!

I swear, Tia and Allie have been in the Infirmary for ages! Madam Pomfrey better hurry up before I devise an ingenius plan to break them out. And I will, eventually. ::taps fingers together, a la Mr. Burns::

I really enjoy this song I'm listening to, so I think I'm going to put the lyrics on here.

Tangled Up In Blue (Bob Dylan)

Early one morning the sun was shining
I was laying in bed
Wond'ring if she'd changed it all
If her hair was still red
Her folks they said our lives together
Sure was gonna be rough
They never did like Mama's homemade dress
Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough
And I was standing on the side of the road
Rain falling on my shoes
Heading out for the East Coast
Lord knows I've paid some dues getting through
Tangled up in blue.

She was married when we first meet
Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam I guess
But I used a little too much force
We drove that car as far as we could
Abandoned it out West
Split it up on a dark sad night
Both agreeing it was best
She turned around to look at me
As I was walking away
I heard her say over my shoulder
'We'll meet again someday on the avenue'
Tangled up in blue.

I had a job in the great north woods
Working as a cook for a spell
But I never did like it all that much
And one day the ax just fell
So I drifted down to New Orleans
Where I happened to be employed
Working for a while on a fishing boat
Right outside of Delacroix
But all the while I was alone
The past was close behind
I seen a lot of women
But she never escaped my mind and I just grew
Tangled up in blue.

She was working in a topless place
And I stopped in for a beer
I just kept looking at her side of her face
In the spotlight so clear
And later on as the crowd thinned out
I's just about to do the same
She was standing there in back of my chair
Said to me 'Don't I know your name?'
I muttered something underneath my breath
She studied the lines on my face
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe
Tangled up in blue.

She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe
'I thought you'd never say hello,' she said
'You look like the silent type'
Then she opened up a book of poems
And handed it to me
Written by an Italian poet
From the thirteenth century
And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burning coal
Pouring off of every page
Like it was written in my soul from me to you
Tangled up in blue

I lived with them on Montague Street
In a basement down the stairs
There was music in the cafes at night
And revolution in the air
Then he started into dealing with slaves
And something inside of him died
She had to sell everything she owned
And froze up inside
And when finally the bottom fell out
I became withdrawn
The only thing I knew how to do
Was to keep on keeping on like a bird that flew
Tangled up in blue.

So now I'm going back again
I got to get her somehow
All the people we used to know
They're an illusion to me now
Some are mathematicians
Some are carpenter's wives
Don't know how it all got started
I don't what they're doing with their lives
But me I'm still on the road
Heading for another joint
We always did feel the same
We just saw it from a different point of view
Tangled up in Blue...

That felt good. Later, y'all!

I'm not searchin' for a reason to enjoy myself...

Music: "Over, Under, Sideways, Down" The Yardbirds

Well, I'm starting a band. An all-Gryffindor band, at that. Most of the people that have applied are vocalists/keyboardists. And most of them like Evanescence. Oh well. The quality of their musicianship means more to me than their tastes in music.

I am on edge waiting for Mitchell to be sorted. It's so weird, though...he's 16, I'm 14, yet I'm a year ahead of him in school. ::gloats:: I think he might end up in Ravenclaw; that boy loves to study.

I think that very well may be it for now. Later.

Catch the Wind...

Music: "What Is and What Should Never Be" Led Zeppelin

Mitch got his letter of acceptance today!! ::dances:: I really hope he gets Gryffindor, like me ::big grin:: but I guess both of us will find out soon.

Tia owled me yesterday afternoon with the application for cheerleading/mascot tryouts. It's going to be a lot better this year--she asked McGonagall if we could have pep rallies and do special things for the quidditch players and things...it'll almost be like Muggle high school!

I'm going to go help Mitch buy his school supplies now. More later.

Tomorrow Never Knows,

Adrianna H. Lupin, who is feeling quite formal at the moment.

Ooooh!! Eerie!! Mystical doom!!

Listening to: "White Room"--Cream

This is my place to indulge...my journal. Meaning I can act how I please and raise some cain...with my words of course.

A lot of people are wanting to be on the Gryffindor cheerleading squad. Tia is making arrangements for tryouts, I'm writing a constitution and creed. Sounds like a lot of work for cheerleading, but it's totally worth it in the end.

My cousin [John]Mitchell Marks enrolled at VH today. His parents named him after John Mitch Mitchell, the drummer of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, so of course he's been playing drums since he could hold drumsticks. I always thought Mitch Mitchell was pretty cool...I mean, his name is Mitchell Mitchell!

Darcie Dracel of Ravenclaw sent me a very funny joke today. I quote: What would be the difference between a dead rabbit on the side of the road and Brittney Spears dead on the road? There would be skid marks in front of the rabbit. Ta, Darcie...I was rolling in the floor when I read it!

I finally fashioned a nickname for myself. Drip. Take the "Dri" from Adrianna and the "p" from Lupin, and you have Drip. A lot of people have commented that my name is hard to spell, so you know...I needed a nickname. And I do act kindly drippy from time to time...

Well, I suppose that's it. Ta 'till later!

Tomorrow Never Knows,

Drip Lupin, queen of the rodeo
