Inspired and driven by the women of the YWCA, the YWCA “Week Without Violence” is a public education campaign that seeks to identify and activate practical and sustainable alternatives to violence in our homes, schools, places of work and neighborhoods. Since it was launched in 1995, the YWCA “Week Without Violence” has grown from a grassroots initiative into a global movement with women, men and children participating in events throughout all fifty states and in more than twenty countries on six continents. The campaign challenges and inspires people to bring to life a vision of the future where all people are free to live with peace, respect and opportunity. The YWCA of the Adirondack Foothills is excited to present surrounding communities with alternatives to violence through programming and events during the week of October 13th through 19th and continuing throughout the year. The “Week Without Violence” is an excellent opportunity for our community to come together and work toward a common goal – the elimination of violence. The YWCA is proud to be a leader of this cause that will affect the lives of each and every one of us.
