What
happened one Sunday last Spring... By SeanT(SeanT) 12:00 PM, South Park Blocks, Portlanders came to the action camp, marched and rallied at South Park Blocks and acted to end the war and bring the troops home! There was an exciting line up of speakers and performances The Angry Patriot - http://pdx42.livejournal.com/ |

Portland churches, unions, educators, and working families turned out on Sunday for a fantastic and useful march for Peace. The 15-18 thousand Portlanders who attended, spoke for the vast majority of Americans who support our troops and our nation by demanding an end to the corporate occupation of Iraq. The cogent point is that this nation was lied into an illegal and unnecessary war of choice, and most of America wants this national nightmare ended. O peration I raqi L iberation is a thinly disguised attempt to "control the spigot" by an unprincipled takeover of Iraqi OIL resources. The price in lives and dollars is too much to bear. We must restore our credibility, reputation, and honor by ending the war and beginning the difficult process of reconciliation and reconstruction. The vile and reprehensible war criminals who engaged in this premeditated and systemic profiteering must be brought to justice. Those in public office must be impeached, removed, or prosecuted as appropriate. Others must be made accountable for their crimes in accord with the rule of law. Reparations for their rank treason are in order. We must restore our national honor. (As we now see economic meltdown, unending war, institutionalized corruption, an undermined bill of rights, millions dead or homeless, and trillions in wasted resources.... it seems late indeed. Perhaps it's later than the person who says it's later than you think, thinks it is!
