A proposed budget from the Oregon Legislature calls for as many as 1700 state worker layoffs, and unions have been asked to accept a wage freeze  See this story and more

"Obama is leaning more toward Wall street than Main street.
Union leaders must point this out and
demand change.
We need secondary school reform, universal health care,
and jobs with justice.  There is no good reason why
working Americans should be asked to settle for less."

Tim Flanagan

Corporobama will not change his stripes between now and next
November.  Democrats will more than likely lose big.  But frankly, too
many of the cowardly Dems are not much of a "loss."  They wasted a year

trying to play politics with housing, healthcare, jobs, and education. Good riddance...

Progressive Democrats who stand up for working people will keep their
seats.  But Repubs don't have to take up the slack.  Third party candidates,
with union and grassroots money and support, need to make their move now.
If we are tired of voting for "lessers of evil," we must become the change we seek.

in solidarity and with best regards, Tim

The Wordsmith Collection provides and develops a variety of resources for peace.  In a quest to facilitate the current renaissance in writing, activism, and creative arts... we have created these resources to help people facilitate grassroots efforts for peace, freedom, and justice in America and around the globe.

Each one of us has a unique skill.  The movement for peace, justice, and freedom, needs cooks, writers, organizers, leaders, speakers, painters, artists, teachers, students, learners, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, neighbors, friends, and nations to come together in seeking peace in our time.

We can end poverty, improve schools, stop war, nurture peace, and provide security.  With the wealth and resources available on this planet there is no reason the human family cannot  feed the hungry, house the homeless, teach the uneducated, heal the sick, and live up to the best we find in ourselves.
