Have you seen this Headline?   Polling Suggests that Americans Love Torture

This is a perfect example of US media disinformation.  The IPSOS AP poll which is the basis for these headlines SAYS EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE.
The poll results indicate that most Americans DISAPPROVE of torture.
Here are the Factual poll results:

Almost four in 10, 38 percent, in the United States said they thought torture could be justified at least sometimes. About one-fourth said it could be justified rarely, and 36 percent said it could never be justified. *

About four in 10 in Mexico and France said torture is never justified. About half in Britain, Spain, Germany and Canada felt torture could never be justified, while only one in 10 in South Korea said torture is never OK, according to the polls of about 1,000 adults in each of the nine countries.  They were conducted between Nov. 15 and Nov. 28. Each poll had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.  The strongest opposition to torture came in Italy, where six in 10 said it is never justified.

*This means, for the less than gullible:
More than six in ten, or 62% oppose torture and feel it cannot be justified "at least sometimes"
Around 75% disapprove of torture and feel it cannot be justified "rarely"
and at least 36% disapprove of torture under any conditions.

The disinformation headlines published internationally by the AP are a combination of push-polling and misrepresentation.
Unfortunately the headlines they created stand unchallenged due to the extremists who own our free press.

IPSOS AP removed the poll from their database on December 7, 2005, since it contradicted their headlines...
Here are other sources for the poll results they removed:

Here is a blatantly misleading headline which distorts the results
Poll finds support for use of torture in war on terror
Washington Times, DC - Dec 6, 2005

(The Oregonian published the poll results on December 6, under the fraudulent headline contradicting their contents.)

All polls agree that the American people OPPOSE torture.

Torture is illegal, immoral, and counterproductive
Those who torture should be imprisoned.
No matter who they are.

Facts Matter.
