KBOO's Talking Earth poetry program
is an important part of the Portland Poetry universe. The show airs Monday nights from 10-11 PM , co -hosted by Walt Curtis and Barbara LaMorticella. We have an hour of pure poetry every week, and try to be representative not of a particular clique or scene but of a broad range of writing/readings in Portland. We are always open to new voices, and invite people to send us work to consider for radio reading. The Talking Earth – Spoken arts with Barbara LaMorticella author of Rain on Waterless Mountain, a finalist for the Oregon Book Award and Walt Curtis iconoclastic
poet and painter Walt Curtis is the author of numerous books, including
Mala Noche. Walt is secretary of the Oregon Cultural Heritage
Commission. LaMorticella has been active in Portland¹s
literary world
(especially poetry) since the mid-1970s. She goes on-site to record
various literary events, creating a unique archive. In addition to
radio, she edits poetry for online literary magazine Mr. Cogito and the
Portland Alliance newspaper, and has co-edited three anthologies of
Portland poets. She has produced literary events for Northwest Writers,
Portland Poetry Festival, The Temple and Pacific Northwest College of
Art.
