Hello everybody!!! we're in kathmandu at the moment, it's our second day, but yesterday we were sooo knackered (kaput) so we basically just found a hotel, had a bite to eat, took in a little bit of the local festival and then crashed.
our trip from germany was quite uneventful, but bloody long!! hey frank - i didn't sleep a second on the whole flight,or until Thursday night (believe it or not!!??) but joerg crashed for a while!!
this is just a short one, since there isn't much to tell yet, we're just organising everything for our big trek which we'll probably start on Monday. hi mom and dad hope you get this message ok, i'm totally ecstatic to finally be in nepal, the people are sooooo beautiful and i can't wait to start the trek, we might not be able to write for about 3 weeks, as we'll be trekking. hope you're all well, lots of love kelly p.s. write soon

hallo zusammen,
wir haben es geschafft. 16 tage teilweise recht anstrengenden wanderns hat sich redlich gelohnt.
die landschaft war atemberaubend. es fing an mit nahezu subtropischem klima mit reisfeldern an berghaengen, malerischen haengebruecken ueber dem fluss,marsyandi-dem wir bis zum pass gefolgt sind-
welches dann langsam in karges oedes, staubiges,
fast mondlandschaft-aehnliches ueberging.
bei dieser wanderung hat uns unser held Maitha, er war unser traeger, einige last abgenommen, so dass wir die landschaft einiges besser bewundern konnten.
tja, was gibt's noch? die nepalesen sind wie bereits erwaehnt ein aussergewoehnlich hoefliches volk,
das essen ist gut (trotzdem sind unsere hosen etwas weiter nach dieser wanderung). gesundheitlich gab es gar keine probleme. ing, es war nicht so schmutzig wie behauptet, obwohl der umweltschutzgedanke noch ziemlich minimal ist. jetzt werden wir noch 2-3
tage in pokhara faulenzen, bis es dann weiter geht nach indien (varanasi).

Hey everybody,
Sorry the English update has been a bit delayed but I've been feeling a bit under the weather. bummer. The plan was to stop in Pokhara for a couple of days to rest our weary feet and try to gain back a bit of the weight we lost on our massive 16 day hike. Unfortunately I came down with some sort of a lung infection, so we've spent a whole week here recovering. not to worry though, I'm well on my way to a speedy recovery and Joerg's taking good care of me.
I could bore you all to death with endless descriptions of the mountains and forests and quanit little villages, where time appears to have been standing still for the past couple hundred years. Luckily our video clips captured parts of it quite well. The landscape changed from lush green sub-tropical forests to arid, dry, dusty hills to the snow capped mountains - something new and breathtaking everyday. We hired a porter to carry our big backpack - "Maitha" - he was a godsent. Some days the hiking was hard going but the amazing views distracted us from our aches and pains.
We're off to Chitwan National Park tomorrow morning in search of the One horned Rhino and the Bengal Tiger as well as freshwater Dolphins and our plans include canoeing, elephant riding and many more exciting adventures.
After that we're catching a bus to Varanasi-India, to see the holy city at the Ganges.
I can say with certainty that Nepal and the Nepalese people will always hold a special place in our hearts.
