The Readers Clubhouse website, also known as DisneyNation, was dedicated to Disney vacation enthusiasts. Founded in 1995, and funded by a venture capital investment group, the Readers Clubhouse was a successful and popular online community with thousands of vested members. Rita Aero's Walt Disney World was a best-selling guidebook that has been updated biannually for the past decade. The book series was developed and published by Random House and St. Martins Press. The website and book projects were strategically aligned for future exploitation by the investing corporations and shareholders. 10/28/2002 -- Crime-Fighter Update To Our Constitutants, Legal Representatives, Plaintiff Attorneys, Government and Law Enforcement Officials, and Friends: It is our pleasure to bring you up-to date on the ongong legal actions against the criminals who destroyed this American business, as well as the civil actions that are taking shape to end the reign of consumer terrorism on the Internet. First, let us remind everyone that we are working within various statutes of limitations, here. In the Criminal actions, which are well underway, we are working within a two-year statute. While charges could be brought sooner, the crime fighters and attorneys involved are fascinated with collecting additional information publicly posted by the suspected criminals involved, which augments those cases in the most remarkable and telling ways. As they tell us, "Time is on our side, here. Just relax." For example, the most amusing aspect to this case is the current answer to this question: "Would it be possible to trick the criminals involved into to identifying themselves, since no one want's to see a John Doe case?" We are very happy to announce that the less-than-bright folks involved have been whipped into a heady froth of silliness by their own delusions (with a little help from a few well-placed insiders) and have now formally announced themselves to the FBI as suspects through written forms. The irony, of course, is that many of these folks were not even involved, as far as we knew, with the crimes that were committed during March, April, and May 2002, which are those we are pursuing. We actually had little to connect specific individuals with the crimes and conspiracies that took place. But now we do! (Big grins all aound, as you can imagine.) Also, this "live demonstration" of the nuisance effect and business harassment to the FBI is absolutely priceless. The FBI can now experience it firsthand, and finally identify for us the perpetrators, whomever they are. This was a investigation windfall we never expected, although we had been told that people who commit crimes like these are actually very stupid. Right now, there are several similar cases, both felonies and civil cases, that are ahead of us and working their way through the Federal courts. The criminal cases (handled by the government) will make the prosecution of the suspected felons involved, who destroyed your online community, a certain conviction. We look forward to that, and we are extremely grateful that these important cases are in line before us, so as to ease America's way into a future that encompasses a safe Internet and the protection of individual freedom. We are certainly not neglecting the civil cases either. The larger plaintiffs, our investors and publishers, are well underway with their own investigators and our considerable discovery. The remaining cases will underwrite the future costs of Internet security for our community members who were victimized (and continue to be so) by harassment and threats. Everyone who was damaged by the illegal actions that battered and destroyed our community will be compensated financially for what was done to them through awards from civil lawsuits, as a good faith pass-through. We are well aware who was hurt through the hundreds of Damages Statements that were filed. If you have not filed your Damages Statements yet, please do so. (We're going to give you some details in the next few days here about the current investigations and court actions.
