the spring valley studs album "courtney's farm" now available

Courtney's Farm blends elements of country, blues, jazz, and bluegrass
in a warm, witty amalgam, and gives us a timeless collection of fresh
and original tunes in the process. Mick Reed, on vocals, acoustic
guitar, and harmonica, is backed by an all-star supporting cast of some
of the most talented up-and-comers in traditional jazz, blues, and
country. Mick's songwriting displays a depth and cleverness that is
both poetic and entertaining as he draws us in to stories of
heartbreak, legends, and bawdy honky-tonk rowdiness. The album takes
us to a place rooted deep in Americana which is full of characters,
scenes, and places that come alive to us through rich description and
soul-filling music.

Selected Lyrics from the spring valley studs album "courtney's farm

OKLAHOMA
Highway 40 West is the road I loved the best
I thought I'd find a refuge in your arms
The glow of the setting sun made me forget where I was from
Blinded as I was by your charms

Oh-oh-oh, Oklahoma
Get out from under my skin, Oklahoma

You're just a country girl who lives in your own world
The city is the place to make your name
You set out on your own and skip on stepping-stones
Never looking back from chasing fame

Oh-oh-oh, Oklahoma
Get out from under my skin, Oklahoma

Highway 40 East is the road of my retreat
I thought I'd find a refuge on your range
The glare of the rising sun showed me just where I'd begun
But the New York City skyline seemed to change

Oh-oh-oh, Oklahoma
Get out from under my skin, Oklahoma

I have walked and I have stumbled, I've seen hollow mountains crumble
I've seen what I love rubble on the ground
Seen my greatest moments flicker, seen Death's Doorman stop and snicker
I wipe away this dust and carry on.

Oh-oh-oh, Oklahoma
Get out from under my skin, Oklahoma…

MAN WITHOUT A COUNTRY
I lived in New York City, I lived in Rome
But neither place did I feel at home
Neither place, just like I said
I only felt at home when I was in your bed

But I'm a man without a country
A man without a town
When I'm with you I feel like settling down

You say I'm thin, you say you're fat
You call me this and you call me that
You say you're leaving, never coming back
You never talked that way when we were in the sack

But I'm a man without a country
A man without a town
Guess you could say I sleep around

I had you once, I had you twice
Both times you left me, kept me on ice
Both times you left me for another man
I had you once don't need to have you again

But I'm a man without a country
A man without a town
You're not the only woman around

You said you loved me, loved me true
I said I loved you then what did you do
You gone and left me for that other man
You gone and left me time and time again

But I'm a man without a country
A man without a town
If you don't want me I won't be hanging around
