Medical Robotics

Component Three

At the present time medical robitics is a growing field in the medical industry. It has only been around for fifty years. However, every day new advances are made in robotic technology as well as procedures performed. With this progression we can expect many drastic changes to occure within the next few years in this specific field of robotics. With the release of a new product such as ours it could dramitcally decrease the over all cost to consumers and health facilities around the world participating in this field. In the end it could save companies and consumers millions of dollars, as well as advance technology in this field.

Once a new product is released into production, sales representatives and advertising will be needed to ensure the success of this product. As of now we can predict the workforce to rise drastically over the next five years, as the consumer becomes more aware of the life saving ablitity and cost savings, the demand for hospitals to purchase the product will rise. In turn this will enable new advances to be made, causing yet another reduction in costs of manufacturing and operation procedures. As of now there are two products that are on the market: Image overlay and Laparoscopic Manipulators. However the costs are staggering, 65,000 for a bypass surgery alone, but we expect this to change! In five years we predict that every healthcare facility in the world will have access to the product due to the more affordable price. Seeing the future in this product, we now must have the correct training for sucessful operations.

As of now there are few hospital in the U.S. that have courses on robits use . However this number is growing, seeing that robitics is the wave of the future in many fields, the medical field especially. Already the University of California at Berkley is offering courses on Laparoscopic Manipulators. John Hopkins University is also offering courses in Medical Robotics. Some examples of these courses are: Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, Mechanical Engineering and Bioengineering.

As the our product becomes more and more advances, we predict course will be offered specifically for the operations and development on these types of equipment. Such courses that could become available are: Operation and Development of Medical Robotics, Robotic Engineering , and other Robotic courses. These courses will be crucial to the overall success of the medical robotics. Without them the procedure may not be done with the full knowledge of operating the robot. This in turn could patients lives in jeopordy if doctors are not properly prepared and trained in the area of need. As we can see though, this will take alot of planning and development, but in the end it will be worth it, we will be saving lives!
