Process
Within the first two weeks, students will use the forum to get to know each other and form groups of three. Again through use of the forum, the teams of three will devise a timeline to submit via e-mail to the instructor. The forum will be the communication network for all of the students. Each team should set up a group name within the forum to limit confusion. Face-to-face meetings and phone conversations can be utilized, but the forum meetings will count 40% of the students' grades and should not be neglected.
Each student will assume one of the following roles:
| Project Manager--responsible for
researching the... Purpose: What will this project accomplish? Need: Why is this project important to your community? Evaluation: How will success of the project be measured?
| |
| Activities Coordinator--responsible
for researching the... Approach: How do you plan to implement this project? Support: What kind of local support is there for the project? Coordination: Who else in your community is working on this issue? How will you coordinate with them?
| |
| Accountant--responsible for
researching the... Funding sources for project: What sources have committed to date? Our funds: How specifically will our grant be used? Future Support: How will this project be financed in the future? |
Once the team has gathered all the data necessary, the students will need to synthesize the information and write their grant proposal. The following table offers writing tips and examples for each section of the grant proposal. The students will be able to click on the sites and use the information to jumpstart their proposal.
When completed, the grant proposal should be emailed to the instructor as an MSWord attachment.
