You
Carried Me

You showed me in the sand along the
shore that was my life,
Two sets of footprints where we walked
together side-by-side.
But in my hours of darkness, when I most
needed You,
One set of footprints disappeared from
view.

I asked You where You went to in my
times of greatest need,
Why You left me with my burdens, did not
help me to succeed.
You smiled and then you told me, I never
was alone,
And then You said those footprints
weren't my own.

You carried me. You did it ev'ry time.
You carried me. Those footprints were
not mine.
As I gazed upon the sand, I began to
understand,
Patiently, it's plain to see You carried
me.

I thought back to the times when I had
felt so overwhelmed,
And did not think I'd ever persevere or
carry on.
Each time You gave me comfort, and
guided me from harm,
And when I stumbled caught me in Your
arms.

And carried me. You always were around.
You carried me. I never hit the ground.
As I gazed upon the sand, I began to un-der-stand,
Faithfully, it's plain to see You
carried me.

You carried me. I really should have
known.
You carried me. I never was alone.
As I gazed upon the sand, I began to
understand,
Lovingly, it's plain to see You carried
me.
As I gaze upon that sand, now I finally
understand,
Consistently, its plain to see You
carried me.
