History

None of the present-day Bramalea Blues were around when the team was born a generation ago in 1971. A three year march to glory saw the Blues go from expansion team to Provincial finalists unbeaten in the series against Hamilton Jr. B. Wings, but not champions to be vindicated as Ontario Jr. B. titleists a year later.

The successes in the intervening years have been almost as satisfying. There have been repeat visits to the provincial final and a Canada Games gold medal in 1983. In the 1998/99 season, the team was most successful in capturing the Provincial League championship and the All Ontario championship gaining the right to represent Central Canada at the Royal Bank Cup in Yorkton, Sask. The Blues advanced to the semi-final round losing out to Vernon B.C. by a goal. A very successful season.

All this has been accomplished with a succession of players who have been proud to wear the Blues’ emblem and who have made the emblem proud with calibre of their performance. The list of Blues that have gone on to the N.H.L. is surprisingly brief: Mike Forbes, Tom Laidlaw, Andrew Cassels, Chris Felix and Luciano Borsato. However the list of graduates that have gone on to higher education and their hockey programs over the years is in excess of 150 known graduates.
