On
June 5th 1945 the liner Sobieski was approaching the coast of Nova Scotia.
We landed in the port of Halifax. The first impressions of Canada started
when the port pilot's boat stopped at the side of the ship. The little
boat was so ordinary and small, with old car tires fastened to it's sides
looking so shabby. The first impression of Canada was therefore
'shabby'. At that time I did not realize how enormous country it is, with
such potential and reaches!
