Day Three!

I was wrong, I’m terribly sorry, but it seems like England lost. They’re now out of the contest, a real bummer for a football nation like England. The shops today were still filled with the red and while supporter stuff, people are still wearing their red and white shirts, the papers are filled with excuses on how Portugal is the big bad, or the judge, something like that… At least none of the players are being blamed, Anne said.

We had both breakfast and lunch here at the grossly green, yet very small room of ours. Anne even went to the close by grocery store to buy some milk and yogurt with fancy thingies to it. I was happy to see that the ham had survived a night in the room with no fridge. Although after two meals with lots of ham, as it had to be eaten, because none of us could be bothered to go downstairs to the fridge with it, I’m sick of ham for the moment!

The weather was lovely today, no rain and a nice sun even! We could walk around dressed in shorts and t-shirts, wow!

We went to walk on the city wall today. I find it rather cool how there’s still so much of it, it’s a bit like in Avignon in southern France, where the city’s wall was so intact that it was close to impossible to enter the city by car.

We got to view the cathedral from many angles, it is so pretty, looks kind of like the Notre Dame in Paris, only slightly different, besides it looks like the Disney version, not the real one.

We visited a store called Oxfam. Which is a second-hand store, we’ve read so much crap about in the last days. It wasn’t too bad, I guess. Anne saved several pounds in buying a book there instead of in the bookshops.

There was this shop looking rather dodgy, that we went into. I loved it! It was expensive, but gosh, I wish I had more money! I found some nice fishnet gloves, which I have looked for forever, and a cool top saying: “I’m smiling because they haven’t found the bodies yet.” It was awesome, I must go back there later on, perhaps borrow some money from Anne?

We went in plenty of other stores as well, new stuff!! Anne’s bought at least 6 DVDs only today (more than that in general).

The dinner we bought at M&S today and ate at our room, we had some nicely spiced chicken, baguettes and couscous. The couscous was very dry with vegetable chunks in it, but the chicken was tasty.

Then I was sent on my own to a store to buy “Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate chip dough ice cream”. None of us had tasted it before, just heard a lot of it. It was good actually, weird but good. Ooh! And chocolate fingers! I’ve only tasted those in the confirmation parties at some friends of us before (the mother is English), and they’re so good! Shortcake biscuit fingers crafted in milk chocolate. Mmm!

None of the three adapters for the electricity we had with us worked! There was no chance of recharging(???) the cell phones before Anne found one in the hall, lucky I’d say.

The construction site outside our window is very fascinating by the way! I can’t stop looking at the huge what-do-you-call-them.

Tomorrow I’ll meet the first person from the net I’m meeting in real life. Shaniqu. I’m freakishly nervous, wish me luck.

Mette.
