We all have to do 'em. They say there is no second chance to make a good first impression, so make sure your self intro goes off well. These 2 have worked well for me.

New - Self Intro Bingo - From Tori A more interactive approach to self introductions. Rather than having the kids sit mindlessly watching your show, have them listen more intently by playing this bingo game. Will obviously need to be modified to suit your own needs, unless conincidentally your name is Tori Bentley and you are from England and share exactly the same life....  Here and Here

Self Intro 1

Get groups into 5-6 people. 4 runner/reporters, 2 scribes.

Paste up things around the room about you, your town etc, and the reporters have to tell the scribes stuff about you.

When this is done, ask a series of questions and award points to the team who can provide the answers.

Eg. Where am I from

How many pets do I have.

For each correct answer you can award points, or have a race game on the board, whereby every team has a token, and the token advances with each correct answer.

Very effective game.

  Self Intro Gambling

I gave the kids a heap of phototcopied Aussie money, and got them into groups of 6.

Before each question I would ask them to bet money on the answer being correct.

After the bets were taken, I would ask a question. Providing multi choice answers. When I said "go", each group would hold up a card with A, B, C, or D on it. The winners would get their bet back plus double. So for example, 20 bucks bet, 40 bucks back.

After each question was answered I would "prove the answer" by showing photos or whatever.
