Cinquain, a five-line verse. In a traditional cinquain the lines contain two, four, six, eight and two syllables. In a modern cinquain the lines go 1 word, 2 words 3 words, 4 words, 1 word. The cinquain, based on the Japanese haiku, was an innovation of the American poet, Adelaide Crapsey.
