CRAZY DAZE OF SUMMER

Mood:  energetic
Topic: Sophie bumps into Jeff
Hope everyone had a fun, safe Labor Day weekend.

Once again I am sending prayers for the victims of hurricane Katrina.

The excerpt today is when Sophie bumps into Jeff on the street corner. This is their second meeting.

Sophie spun away from the window and collided with a male body. Her bags were knocked from her arms, fell to the sidewalk. "Oh, pardon me," Sophie said in a rush. "I wasn't paying attention."

"Well, if it isn't Cat Woman."

Sophie's brows knitted into a frown. It was none other than Jeff Hunter, acting Sheriff of Lucky. And he was checking her out with those black eyes of his. Needle points of awareness pricked her senses. Flustered, she bent down to pick up her bags. He bent down, too.

Instead of plugging my book today, I urge everyone to make a donation for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. If you can only afford one dollar, then please send it. Because all the one dollars will add up to a lot of dollars.

I've chosen the Salvation Army to make my donation to. They have a mailing address to send a check if you don't feel comfortable using your credit card online.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Topic: Sophie's wardrobe again
Sophie has one very quirky, article of clothing she dons throughout the book.

This the Jeff Hunter's reaction the first time he meets Sophie and can't help but notice what she is wearing.

Sophie Chandler had on the ugliest bathrobe he'd ever seen. It was a quilted, hot pink robe that completely covered her from neck to toes. He couldn't tell if she was skinny, overweight, or somewhere in between. It was cinched at the waist. Not to mention it was hard on the eyes. She was standing in the shadows so he couldn't make out her features. "You gonna let me in?"

The ugly pink robe appears at various times throughtout the book.

I'll be taking a mini vacation so I'll be back to writing next week after the holiday.

Have a safe and fun Labor Day Weekend.

Topic: Sophie's wardrobe
She glanced over her shoulder at the window. The sky was bright blue, cloudless. Sophie wanted to wear something that matched the beautiful June day.
Turning back to her boring clothes, nothing bonked her on the head and shouted wear this.

Topic: More on Sophie
Sophie Chandler, lived an ordinary, safe, and I want to emphasize safe, life. She has one daughter in college. And she thought she had a good marriage until Byron dropped the bomb one day, that he had fallen in love with another woman.

Sophie needs an escape so she agrees to house sit for her aunt for the summer, in Lucky, Montana, while her Aunt Eva tours Europe with a friend.

Sophie figures Lucky is a good place to mend her broken heart.

But life nevers turns out how we expect it to? Right?

Let's start with Sophie.

Sophie Chandler is fortyish. She's always been a plain Jane. But after her husband leaves her for an older woman, Sophie takes the plunge and has a, let's say, partial makeover. New hairstyle, some new clothes that are more daring and flashy than her usual humdrum wardrobe.

Now maybe she changed her outer appearance, but inside she's still the same Sophie. That's what characters do in a book, they change, they grow, sometimes they have Kodiak moments, defining momements.

After several months have passed Sophie is still struggling to come to terms with her impending divorce. She does a lot of soul searching wondering what went wrong in her marriage.

Have a great weekend.

Topic: A Brief Bio
This blog will be about my contemporary romance novel, CRAZY DAZE OF SUMMER.

But first a brief bio. I have been writing for almost a decade now. I started out writing children's fiction, then switched gears into the romance genre. I have three contemporary romance novels published as of now. I live near the majestic Rocky Mountains. My buddies are a rowdy, girl lab, and two girl cats. One old and one middle-aged.

What can I say? I'm an addict when it comes to romance. That applies to both reading and writing them.

CRAZY DAZE OF SUMMER is one of my all time favorites. It was a blast to write. It's funny, witty, wacky and at times will tug at your heart.

Meet the heroine: Sophie Chandler
Meet the hero: Jeff Hunter

Meet some of the cast: Betty, good friend of Sophie
Thomas, Jeff's father. Amanda, Jeff's daughter. Tina, Sophie's daughter. Byron, Sophie's soon to be ex-husband. Caroline, Byron's lover, girlfriend.

And a stray cat that literally gets the ball rolling.

So stayed tuned for the antics of this wacky, funny cast of characters. I fell in love with Jeff. And Sophie. Wish I could be her.

Cheers
