Mrs. Sherman Oaks America 2005
My name is Suzanne Lazear and I am the reigning Mrs. Sherman Oaks America, 2005. I will be competing for the title of Mrs. California America on June 5, 2005 in Palm Springs, California. If I win the title of Mrs. California, I will then be eligible to compete for the title of Mrs. America!
I am a wife, mother, and grant writer. My husband John, my daughter Elizabeth and my stepchildren Sarah, Kenny, and Mitchell are very supportive in my quest for the crown. I write grants and raise money for non-profits. I also enjoy spending time with my family, reading, playing the flute, writing, and Irish Dancing!
I don't consider myself a "beauty queen type" but this is something I've been wanting to do for awhile, so after I had Elizabeth I thought I'd just go for it, and here I am! I have my dress and suit, my swimsuit has been ordered, and I'm getting the chance to develop a platform on something I've very passionate about, cloth diapers. So far preparing for the pageant has been a rewarding experience and I'm looking forward to the big weekend.
I am going to the Mrs. California America Pageant thanks for the generosity of many sponsors who have provided financial, material, and emotional support. I could not do this with out them. I only have $300 left to raise! Thank you so much for your support!
Event Information: The pageant will be at 2 pm on Sunday, June 5, 2005 at the Rivera Resort in Palm Springs, CA. The preliminaries are the day before. Tickets are $25, can be bought at the door, and are good for both days; however, it is my understanding that even small children need tickets. There are events going on all weekend. Iíll be there from the 3rd through the 5th. There will be preliminaries on June 4th where there will be separate swimsuit, evening gown, and interview competitions. The pageant itself is on June 5th. There will be an opening number, a swimsuit competition, and an evening gown competition where we are asked questions. Our hubbies also have to prepare a speech on why our marriage is strong which will be recorded and played during our evening gown walk. Sadly, there will be no talent competition, so you won't get to see me Irish Dance. I just hope I don't trip on my 3 inch Barbie heels!
