The Portrait of Helene - Introduction

Alright, there isn't really much to introduction-i-fy here. This was my very first attempt at a manga story. I'd
made little comic strips before, but never actually attempted a whole short story. I must have been about 15 or 16
when I drew this. I submitted it to that Tokyopop contest, too, very proud of my work, and I wondered why on earth
they didn't pick it. Of course now coming back and looking at it again, I see that it really does look like
crap...I mean the characters are a bit wonky...and the tones are done with PENCIL smudges. Honestly...

So Why am I putting it up here then? I don't know...I guess it was a good story. And maybe you can get a good laugh out of the wobbly artwork. And the fact that it, for some odd reason, takes place in 19th century France. Thus the french names and frilly little clothes. The title I submitted this to the contest under was actually french, too: "Le Portrait de Helene", but it's copyrighted under the english title. Why DID I stick the story in France...? I think I was listening to too many Malice Mizer songs...or studying French at the time...Of course now I only remember like 3 things in French, one of them being "MON DIEU!" which I exclaim at myself when my self does something stupid.
Anyway, the story itself...well I shouldn't give it all away, but it's supposed to be about hypocrisy. It's really sort of obvious. Well thanks to anyone who reads it...Au revoir. (Yay! I remembered another thing in French! \^^/)
