Stupid, Short, Pointless, But generally entertaining FAQ about "Strange Friendship"/"Henna Yuujou" that you really didn't ask but that I asked for you in a state of boredom.
Questions are in italics, just so you know.
What does W.I.N.K stand for anyway? (<---This is the exception. People DO really ask this.)
Way - in Kids
W. I.N. K.
o.O?
AHG!!!!! It's supposed to be CUTE! You know like........Something J-pop bands would name themselves! Like Kinki
Kids! Or...or WAT or things like that! Oh I give up...
You: Why is there a period between the "I" and the "N"?
Because it's cuter and more fun to read than W.IN.K.
So is Takun in love with Ji now or something?
HECK NO!!! I mean COME ON. After having a hot girlfriend like Hatsuki do you think he's seriously going to turn 180
and go for Ji?
She's not THAT hot.
:( Yes she is.
And what gives you the right to make that decision?
*sweatdrops and glares at you*
Okay...So you think I draw ugly girls. I hate you. Ask something else!
...Okay. Is Ji in love with Takun?
You don't stop do you?
WELL???
Cough.
Madly and deeply? No.
Crush? ...Maybe...............*thinks*.........no.
Hey, Dude, what the heck is with the Japanese title “Henna Yuujou”? I can’t even pronounce it.
“Henna Yuujou” - pronounced “HEY n ah YOU joe” (but actually without the retarded emphasized syllables. I just
added those because that’s how I say it. ^^)
Lit. meaning: “Weird Friendship” or "Strange Friendship" - same as the english title! ^^
Interpret it how you will. I vowed to change this title but after 15 hours of debate with myself…I sort of gave up
and the name stuck. At least I didn’t name it like… “Queer Friendship” or something (Which my 4am self would have
named it if my 12am self hadn’t come back in later and said WHAT THE HECK???? RENAME!!!). Uhg I give up….
If they're pop stars, why do they write their own songs, and why does Ji play the guitar?
Although a lot of Japanese pop artists have songs written for them, a lot of pop artists do write and compose a good
deal of their own songs. It's common to see them perform with instruments also. Good examples are Kinki Kids (A duo
where both members now regularly accompany themselves on guitar and write most of their own songs) and Utada Hikaru (a female singer-songwriter).
The point is that Japanese pop artist writing their own songs and performing with instruments seems to be slightly
more common than American pop groups doing the same. At least today.
How do you draw such weird people?
CAN'T YOU THINK OF A MORE IMAGINITIVE QUESTION THAN THAT???
Well since you're asking these for me, no.
*fumes* I pick up a pencil and scribble stuff. I stare at people and draw what I like about them. Like their feet
or their nose or something. Then I throw all these random body parts together in a way I see fit and it comes out
looking like something human. Mostly I just steal people's eyes and draw stuff based on that. I like to draw eyes.
*warm fuzzy feeling*
YOU MEAN YOU HAVE PAGES AND PAGES OF EYES AND EYEBALLS?????
You bet! \^^/
Alright, according to you because you're typing this, I'm almost sick of asking questions. So what was the
inspiration for the story?
FINALLY an ACTUAL QUESTION!!!!!!
Well. It all started out when I was bored one night and was watching an obscure array of Tackey & Tsubasa vids and
interviews, etc...
[WARNING!!! YOU ARE ABOUT TO WITNESS A YUKU THOUGHT PROCESS!!!!!!!]
Now T&T (a j-pop duo) are bizarre and always acting too friendly for the cameras like they want each other so bad or
something...... *sweatdrop*
But my brain started thinking and it said, "Well, they're really really friendly with each other in front of the
cameras and it seems like they definitely genuinely get along with each other but what are they like OFF stage?
What happens when the cameras go off? What if they TOTALLY HATE EACH OTHER'S GUTS??? Man wouldn't that suck. ...
*pause, picks at toe nail.* *lightbulb* HEY! I SHOULD WRITE A MANGA!!!! COOOOLLLL!!!! IT'LL BE A MANGA ABOUT TWO
GUYS IN A JAPANESE POP DUO WHO ABSOLUTELY HATE EACH OTHER FOR SOME REASON I HAVEN’T COME UP WITH BUT ARE FORCED TO
ACT LIKE THEY'RE BEST FRIENDS AND DO FANSERVICE AND CRAP!!! AWESOME!!!!!" *20 minutes of brain nap later* "Hmm...
maybe it needs a plot.
Okay!!! They'll somehow get themselves signed to a company that binds them together as a duo until they get a #1
hit. But then somehow they learn to like each other eventually and be friends. How do I do that....? OH I KNOW!!!
I'LL KILL EVERYONE ELSE OFF!!! OK! BRILLIANT!!! PLOT AHOY!!!
Whoooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ahem. Now I just need a bunch of japanese names and some
espressooooooo....6 shots....yes...6 shots will definitely do it. mweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee YESSSS my precious.....
*Runs off to find her precious*
Will there by any chance be a sucky yaoi sequel to this...?
Just as soon as there would be electricity in Gackt's bathtub, anything vegan in Yamapi’s diet, and a Boa poster on
my wall…All at the same time.
And in case you didn't understand that: NO!
Wait...I didn't understand the question I asked......What's yaoi.....?
Both pointless and needlessly twisted, but mostly plotless. A favorite of fangirls but not of Yuku. Google it if you dare...*cringe*
Where are Ji’s and Takun’s apartments anyway?
I was going to make it Tokyo, but that’s BORING. Everyone and their dog lives in Tokyo according to manga. If the
population of Tokyo included all the manga characters that live in it it would be twice as big as it already is…Oh
yes, getting back to the question…The boys live in Osaka. Why? Uh…I don’t know. Because they do. They don’t act
much like Osaka boys though…hmmm…oh well. Pretend they do darn it! Anyway, the point is they don’t live in Tokyo.
But everyone else does. The end.
Dude, Really? How much do they pay in rent?
………………………………..A hell of a lot more than people in Dallas do.
How old are the characters?
Takun is like 24 and Ji is 23. (But they’ll be older by the time I finish writing this. ^^) Hatsuki is 23 (But
slightly older than Ji) and Rika is about 16. And Yazawa, the manager…I never really decided…Have fun guessing?
^.^’’’’
Your page layouts are really boring.
Yeah….I’ll improve with practice…
Okay so Takun is definitely a guy, but Ji seems to be kind of girly sometimes. Why?
GOOD QUESTION. I thought they would compliment each other better as a duo if they were sort of…opposites. If this
had been a full-length story I could have probably developed their personalities a little bit better. But
generally-speaking, it seemed to me that the perfect counterpart for Takun’s aggressive personality and machismo is
Ji’s gentle personality and closely feminine nature. I think they’ll balance each other quite well.
Who is the hardest to draw?
Takun. (his face is more sharp and evil and has lots of angles in it. >.<)
Who is the easiest to draw?
Ji! ^^ (his face is nice and soft! Easy on the eyes! Easy on the artist! ^o^)
Why did you give their song an English name in the manga?
Because it’s easier for you to read and easier for me to write over and over and over again ad nauseum than the
japanese alternative, which would be "Mainichi, kimi to issho ni" or something along those lines. And
frankly…BECAUSE I’M LAZY DARN IT!!!!! (Plus it’s part of the English lyrics in the chorus which flow better with
the tune.)
Did you actually write that really stupid song?
Yes I dee-diddly-did, neighbor. *pukes* Stupid lyrics and all. And there’s retarded music that goes with it, but
I’ll spare you a complete recording. But if all goes well there should be a midi playing in the background of the
song. It's a monsterpiece. Luckily for you I'm really BAD at writing pop songs so it will STAY an inconspicuous
midi until the day I die or someone buys the rights to it...God forbid...because I'm not about to go recording it
and singing it in really bad Japanese...
OKAY NOW I WILL MAKE YOU STOP ASKING QUESTIONS!!! FAQ OVER!!!! NEED COFFFEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! KROG NEEED
EXPRESSOOOOOO!!!!!!! *becomes raging caveman....*
