About my name....it's japanese but...Um...I'm not ACTUALLY Japanese...This name just has sort of grown on me...yuku isn't really even a name... The closest translation of my birth name is "yufuku" but everyone pronounces that VERY VERY wrong and I got sick of it so i just shortened it to YUKU! which is bouncier anyway. feel the yay. and be forewarned, I shall be forced to DEKOPIN all those who do NOT feel the yay.
Alright, finally, the purpose of this site...... Well, I've actually made one before, but it didn't quiiiiiiiiiite work out...I sort of lost my username and password and can't find the site for the life of me on the internet which means it probably got deleted or something. But hey. I'm not going to cry. It was pretty lame anyway. ANYWAY. I'm not a professional manga artist or anything...I just occasionally get bored and inspired at the same time once in a while and like to draw comics!!!! I've liked to draw them ever since I was barely potty-trained actually...But now I can sort of actually draw stuff. Sort of anyway. Anyway, enough of my friends liked my stories so I figured I'd just put them on a site and maybe other people will like them too. It's about that simple. Actually...Not only that. I want to eventually do something very very different...And hopefully I'll be able to soon...Until then I hope at least some people like these. Most of my stories tend to be in the shoujou (girl's manga) genre but maybe I'll eventually make something just totally bizarre about yakuza or something......With my brain, you never know. It might even be about hamtaro vs. the yakuza...ooooo wouldn't that be interesting...*whacks self with brick before she gets anymore ideas...*
Now most of what I like to do is manga. Oh yes! first! disclaimer: Generally all the stuff on this site is mine, the graphics, the words, the layout, the comics (of course...) (Although the BLOG portion is a different story, I'll try to remember to give credit where credit is due). So just ask if you want to use something. chances are I'll be flattered and give you a link or something. ^o^ So yes. No stealing, okay! \^^/ And I'm not responsible for harm done to one's self as a result of seizures resulting from my color scheme...*cough*

Anyway where was I? Oh yes...Manga. Although I mess around with other kinds of comics, I usually do manga...Japanese style comics. It's really complex to explain all of it and eventually I'll dedicate a special section to defining "manga" and maybe I'll twist my friend Taka's arm so she'll upload her excellent research paper on it. But for now, I'll just say that in Japan comics are a little bit different than in the West. And no, not because all the characters have pink and blue hair and are bug-eyed and angsty. Because Japanese culture is very visual (I mean just go look at the 2000 little pictographic characters they have to be able to recognize in order to read a newspaper...), not only kids read comics. Young adults and older adults also read them, in the same way that some people read novels. So the content of manga varies widely in the same way that genres of books and novels vary widely. Also, the drawings are rarely in color. Instead they rely on black and white screentones for effects and depth, as well as frame placement and line variation. Several moments may be shown on one page, or one moment may be drawn out over many different frames to add emphisis. There is a lot of flexibility with manga as far as expressing emotions in a visual way. Also, manga is similar to novels because, although some manga is done by artist groups, a lot of it...actually most of it is written and drawn by one or two creators. One last thing...Although Japanese comics are usually read in a way that is OPPOSITE of western comics, I draw most of mine the western way because I realize that if I'm ever going to publish them, most publishers have issues with english comics read the japanese way. I don't know why this is. But you can rest assured it bugs me. urrrrrrrrgh...ANYWAY...
Okay now that I'm done with that...semi-important things:
I usually rate my comics for content because of all the times I've stumbled upon things that I wish I wouldn't have...It's to warn you about content you, yourself might want to avoid.
The ratings go like this, sort of like movie ratings:
- G - Yeah I'll probably never use this one...eh heh...G means it's decent and 100% kid friendly by general american standards.
- PG - I usually rate things PG when it's not that bad, but I just wanna be safe. Like if there are psychological problems involved or mild violence. This rating usually means the intended audience is between 10 - 20
- PG-13 - This is my most common rating, but actually I intend it to mean please DON'T read if you're under 13. If I give things this rating it means my intended audience is people between 16 - 25. I will usually give a brief statement about the content that merits this rating.
- R - I can't imagine why I'd have to give something this rating unless the subject matter is about something extremely dark. I typically don't give things this rating unless the intended audience is adults, but I'll probably never have to use this unless something is extremely gorey.
Know before you go! ^o^! (That sounded strangely like toilet talk........)
Okay NOW potentially hazardous things you will find on this site...
- A seizure-inducing color scheme...
- Christian content. (not hazardous, but I will absolutely shove it in your face every now and then. *grin*)
- Things that mess with your mind, people's psychological disorders, etc.
- Really bad, drug-induced midi files.
- Excessive amounts of really bad Japanese, both kansai and tokyo dialects.
- Excessive amounts of really bad attempted yakuza japanese.
- Backwards philosophy.
- Potentially offensive content. If I think something might be potentially offensive to someone (I never intend this, but I understand there will be misunderstandings) I'll usually include a disclaimer. If you read something that is potentially offensive and I haven't said something about it, feel free to send an email (but no flames because I'm not a mean person. i like listening to nice people! ^o^ okay?).
...And things you will NOT find on this site.
- Yaoi or yuri. Since most of the content in either of these categories is considered smut, you won't find it here. So if you don't like that stuff, you're safe. Although I do not have a problem with stories involving same-sex companions, I am opposed to same sex intercourse (and not just because of the Bible, also because of my own conclusions) and there will never be a story on here depicting that or revolving around it. Not to push anyone away or offend anyone, but I just can't justify it, okay?
- Sex scenes. If I need to imply it, I'll usually make two people walk off together into a hotel room or something and then they might mention it later, but I never draw sex scenes homosexual, heterosexual or whatever. It makes me uncomfortable reading them and DEFINITELY makes me uncomfortable drawing them.
- Excessive profanity. Alright, in real life I have a problem with cussing and I REALLY need to watch my mouth sometimes, but I figure even though I TALK like a sailor, it can get really annoying after a while if every other word in a manga is "F*** this" or "f*** that". I only include mild explitives if the situation presents itself; for example "damn". That's about it.
Anyway, the general idea is I'm just here to be an artist, not piss anyone off, ne! ^.^ Now go away from this page and read stuff you poo! *shoves you hyperly*
