Article 2: Radio to MP3 Degree: Podcasting Byron Acohido, USA Today
This article is pro to podcasting and makes much reference to how other countries such as the United Kingdom have successfully incorporated podcasting into their media to a degree; such as in “Rundle’s inaugural podcast.” Podcasting is the radio TiVo, in which you are able to download your favorite shows and take them with you and listen at your own convenience.
Much discussion has aroused since Curry and Winer have developed a new podcast beside the ipodder, through blogs; another new technological enhancement. Apple controls 90% of the podcasting market due to the ipod. Apple has also paved the way with the music licensing deal for future podcasts.
Personal podcasts is a way in which our society can rewind itself back to when media focused more on controversial issues, for it is not controlled by large scale media groups and corporations such as the Madge Weinstein Show.

• Introduction- providing background about the founders of podcasting
• Body
Relative advantage- the types of humans needs addressed by podcasting (individuality, and convenience factors)
Observability- acknowledging that podcasting has become very effective in the U.K. and has blossomed in America since the presidential election.

Tenth Blog Entry
Today we watched a movie on the effects technology has on not only markets, and production but also on communities. Technology lends its self to more corporations and monopolies, therefore depleting the little man. Many mom and pap stores are being shut down due to the fact the larger stores have better technology and can provide more for the consumer; widening the gap between the rich and poor. Plugged in a Internet access site in L.A. chose to move its location because all the neighboring stores were being shutdown around it by the large monopolies, causing the area to decrease in value. This was definitely an enlightening view of the hardships that technology has created, and almost makes you question if it is worth it.

Article 9: Is Podcasting the Future of Broadcasting The Western Mail
At this point in time podcasting is very uneasy, for it is quite difficult to buy music posted on the internet, due to the people’s experience it has become a more than reasonable cliental. Podcasters are looking for a way to market commercials, otherwise we would spend our entire time on the phone. The podcast system was a little reclusive considering the fact that we have never used one. Like iTunes has a portion of their introduction full of advertisements will I believe create a very stable environment though and how you were living in terms of standards. Eventually someone will obtain the perfect idea and implement them back into the world.

Ninth Blog Entry
Today we discussed the invention of the computer and how it has evolved from a 1000 pound machine to a two pound hand held laptop. From the Unac mainframe, to the IBM 360, to the Altair 8800, to the Memet. All these progressions in technology has had a dramatic effect on society as a whole. By ridding the blue collared workers from their jobs due to technology increased the population rate. The fact that most of America has a computer in their own home is pretty phenomenal. The Altair 88000 is the computer that made it accessible for the common household; now look at us, computers are required in many classes and are important in the education process of our children. Computers have become much more affordable, making the adaptation to change much easier.

Eighth Blog Entry
Today in class we discussed the effects mass media has on society. In our group discussions we as a group dicussed how personally the media shapes image. Prime example in which our group found was that media definitely sets the trends from hair, to clothes, to shoes; the stars have what you desire. Jennifer Anistan is a prime example of how young girls will cut their hair in order to look like the fabulous movie star. Also media effects our language such as slang words, no longer to we call handsome boys foxes, or use the term narley for cool, but we have made other words that have merely replaced them for this day in age. Media is culture and is also play a vital role in spreading culture, it is a fundamental part of society.

Article 7: Will Podcasts Kill Radio Ads Paul Durman
Podcasting definitely has its advantages for it breaks down the geographical limitations of the radio, and time zone factors. The negatives factors all revolve around advertising issues and how one will be able to advertise their product to the world if not through audio radio: the same issues in which Apple is facing considering the iPod and iTunes. The barriers in which podcasting is running into will only force our marketing experts into finding new ways to broadcast their merchandise due to the domino effects podcasting has and will have on radio broadcasting. Article 8: Storm Clouds Gathering Over Podcasts Michelle Kessler
KEXP in San Francisco has adopted podcasting and is transmitting it to thousands of listeners. Podcasts right now are mainly talk radio due to legal issues with music rights. The benefits of podcasting stated in the article are that its relative advantage, the ability for the listener to fast forward and rewind. Podcasting listeners who are an enterprising listener can download music onto their personal computer, making it very compatible with already existing technology. Its an exciting time to embrace change and grab hold of technology and see all that it has to offer.

Seventh Blog Entry
We watched a movie today, The Media’s influence on the things we do, it brought attention to the influence that media has on our perceptions of the world. This movie almost viewed the media as a device for propaganda, which I personally agree with. People in the media’s eye have learned and mastered the art of rhetoric; being able to convince and persuade their audience to take on the same mindset in which they are trying to promote. Personally I can relate, for I spent six months in London where the British did not have a positive outlook towards the United States, due to the media coverage in which they were being televised. The cruelties of the soldiers toward the people of Iraq was horrific and I too was horrified by the footage. In contrary in America the only footage being aired is that to promote national morale and to support our barbarian troops. Looking at media in relation to controversial issue has drastic impacts on our own personal outlooks, which this movie just reiterated.

Sixth Blog Entry
The computer diffusion of innovation theory was quite an interesting topic. This lecture focused upon the five key factors that cause us to create and implement new technologies into our every day live, these five factors are: Relative advantage, compatibility & complexity, trialability, and observabitltiy. We discussed how the cell phones completed all five of these five factors with ease, causing society to innovate it into mainstream use. The relative advantage for cell phones is quite clear; being able to reach on at all times. This technology is very functional and simplistic for the most part, and is compatible with our other phone systems, so it is not difficult to access. As cell phones have dramatically evolved over the years is a result of its success in the field of trialablity and even today we have switched from analog to digital services, and these technologies will continue to evolve as we try out new alternatives. AS for the observability factor, well the vast majority of the students walking on campus have a cell phone super glued to their ears providing evidence that this technology has been successfully implemented.

Article 5: iPods Debut and a Marketing Medium, Too Thomas Claburn
iPods can not even be found on the shelves anymore, for people are raiding the stores for them; over 22 million people in America own iPods which cost $200-$500 dollars. The iPod is what has prompted the idea and technology of podcasting. “Podcasting is just and audio extension to blogs,” stated in the article, its also TiVo for the radio. This article hits the target points for the structure of our paper, by through the observability factor in the consideration of the mass purchases of the iPods. Also this article hits the legal aspects of this new innovation, for advertising will have to completely alter the way in which it distributes information. Although podcasting will be easily compatible with iPods the marketing industry has found a new way to adapt for the podcasting shows will contain three types of commercials sponsorships, interstitials, and advertorials.
