Personality Trainer Workshop: San Marcos CA, December 6-8, 2004 Personality Trainer Workshop Schedule: Check in, Monday 8:30 a.m. Teaching 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday Wednesday* *Valuable teaching takes place through the final session and tends to run over. Please do not plan to leave before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Greetings! For months we have been excitedly planning this year's Personality Trainer Workshop at the Lake San Marcos Resort, December 6-8, 2004. I have had calls and interest from all over the country. I am expecting a great crew. Men and women will be coming from coast to coast. I have spoken with many of you over the phone prior to receiving the actual registrations, and I am encouraged by the quality of people who will be in attendance. Additionally, some of my most successful Certified Personality Trainers will be joining us to assist with the teaching, answer your questions and critique your presentation on Monday or Tuesday evening. These three days are going to be a time you will not forget! CERTIFICATION APPLICATION Your registration packet will include a Certification Application (or, one can be printed from the website at this link: PTW Certification Application ). Please fill this out and return it to us as soon as possible. Since I believe that most of the Certification Candidates have already read the required books, this should only take you a few minutes to complete. If, for some reason, you have not yet read the books and you will not be able to get them completed prior to attendance, complete what you can now and the remainder after the workshop. This will allow you to take advantage of the workshop while it is being offered, however, your certification will be held up until all requirements are met. So get your paperwork done as soon as possible! You can either mail or fax the application or you can bring it with you at on-site registration. Be sure to keep a copy of your application for your personal records. PRESENTATIONS I am sure you recall reading on the website or in the brochure about the presentation you will be giving at the Personality Training Workshop. So that you can prepare, I want to give you your assignment and explain how the presentation process will work. Each Certification Candidate will need to give a three- to five-minute presentation on the Personalities relating to a topic about which you are passionate. For example, if you are passionate about ministering to engaged couples, you may want to give your presentation related to the Personalities and marriage. Or, if you are passionate about improving business productivity, you may want your presentation to focus on communication skills at work. You should prepare this presentation in advance of attending the workshop. You have three options on your presentation. One is that it could be done as if you were going to meet with the program committee or educational board at a church or business. Your goal will be to impress upon them the importance of this material and the depth of your knowledge with an end result of having them hire you to train their people. The next option is to give your presentation as if you were one of many speakers on the program and you had the opportunity to present before the entire group to encourage them to attend your session/workshop. The last option is to simply give a three-to five-minute overview of the Personalities. Regardless of the option you choose, include information about all four Personalities using the terms Sanguine, Choleric, Melancholy, and Phlegmatic, pronounced correctly. I encourage you to take whichever option is the closest to what you will do in the future on a topic about which you are passionate so that the comments and critiquing will be especially valuable to you. Your presentation will be critiqued by a member of the teaching team, Certified Personality Trainers and your peers who will be watching for professional and appropriate appearance, believability, content and delivery. In order to qualify, you will need to be above average in each of these areas. On Monday and Tuesday evenings, after dinner, we will gather back together to hear the presentations. I have a blank schedule of when each presentation will take place-appointments are made on a first-come-first-served basis. Please call to ensure your preferred presentation time and advise us of your greatest area of interest in teaching this information (e.g., corporate, counseling, school system, church, retreats or personal). You may want to give your presentation Monday night to get it over with, or you may want to wait until Tuesday evening so you will have had the additional input and training before you speak-the choice is yours. While you only need to attend on the evening of your presentation, I know that the others would appreciate you being a part of the audience. Additionally, you may find that you pick up some good ideas and approaches from others' presentations. WHAT TO BRING As a reminder, please bring any Personality teaching materials you may have developed, even if they are in rough form, your personal copies of the Personality books, your Bible with any verses you use in teaching the Personalities, note paper and a pen. ATTIRE Although the weather at Lake San Marcos can vary between the mid 60's to mid 80's in early December-we will be in "climate control." Before you pack, check on the internet for a weather forecast (e.g. www.weather.com using zip code 92069). If you get hot or cold easily, I suggest you bring clothes with a removable jacket or sweater so you will be your most comfortable, and remember your clothing for your presentation should be appropriate for your intended audience. At other times, you may want to wear "business casual," but whatever attire is most comfortable for you is perfectly acceptable. FOOD LODGING The staff will be staying at the Quails Inn Hotel at Lake San Marcos Resort located at 1025 La Bonita Drive, Lake San Marcos, CA 92069. The resort telephone number is 800/447-6556. For more information on the Quails Inn Hotel, visit their web site at www.quailsinn.com . We have a block of rooms reserved for workshop attendees. Amenities at the Quails Inn Hotel include cable TV, a coffee maker and hair dryer, voice mail and USA Today on weekdays and free parking. Irons and ironing boards are available. All first-story rooms have patios and all second-story rooms have balconies. There are no elevators in the Lakeview rooms, but you can ask at the front desk for help with your luggage. Also available are swimming pools, a hot tub, and an exercise room. Party boats and golfing are also on site. Room package rates are: Single or Double Occupancy $89 + tax/per day (Meals are not included) These rates will be honored three days prior to and after the Personality Trainer Workshop. In the unlikely event that you need to cancel, one night's room and tax will be billed to your account if you do not cancel your lodging reservation at least 48 hours prior to your date of arrival. For those who are checking out Thursday morning, breakfast is served at Leann's Coffee Shop starting at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast and/or dinner are on site at Leanne's Coffee Shop, Quails Inn Dinner House and Gordon's on the Green Restaurant. Or, you can dine nearby on "Restaurant Row" in San Marcos. Lunch is included in your Personality Trainer Workshop registration. We are keeping a list of those who are looking for roommates and will do our best to pair you up with an appropriate person. When you call, let us know the days of your arrival and departure. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and checkout is 12:00 noon. Special arrangements for early check-in and/or late checkout will be approved at the discretion of Quails Inn. No room type will be guaranteed by the hotel except handicap facilities. However, the hotel will make every effort to accommodate requests for smoking or non-smoking rooms and/or upstairs or downstairs rooms. On Wednesday, we expect to be done by 5:00 or 5:30. If you wish to join us for dinner afterwards, you are welcome to do so. Dinner will be at a local restaurant, Dutch treat. GROUND TRANSPORTATION If you will be flying in, you will have your choice of the San Diego International Airport at Lindbergh Field, which offers rental car, shuttle and limousine service to the hotel. Travel time is approximately 45 minutes. Also available is the Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, CA, about 10 minutes away, which also offers airline shuttle service, rental cars, and cab service. If you wish to take Xpress Shuttle from the San Diego airport, they have group prices to Lake San Marcos Resort, which are currently $26 per person one way or $52 round trip. If you are flying to the Palomar Airport, it will be less expensive for you to take a taxi, which currently is approximately $20 per person one way. If you will be arriving at either the San Diego or Palomar airports and choose to rent a car, to the best of our ability, we will help you fill it with those attendees who are interested in sharing a ride and the cost with you. Because each organization's requirements and forms are different, you will need to contact the organization from which you wish to obtain CEUs. If we can easily provide the required information, we will not charge you additional fees.
