50th Class Reunion
August 5, 6, and 7, 2011
THIS WEBSITE IS FOR YOU
If you are a graduate of the class of 1961 or were in our class at any point along the way, so very long ago, this is your website. Welcome and please plan on joining us for our 50th Class Reunion on August 5th, 2011!
ABOUT US
In the past David and Sandy Guinivan successfully guided us through our reunions along with many other hard working committee members. Sadly, David passed away in the spring of 2010. Despite Sandra's grief, she has continued to help us plan for our 50th reunion in so many ways. Mary Ramsdell Gallant, along with Louann Page Basillio and Diane Davidson Cahill have picked up the reins. Bob Teague is our gracious and talented webmaster. Bill Nisbet of the class of 1960 has mentored us in our website creation.
WHAT WE HAVE PLANNED
Friday August 5th Our 50th Class of 1961 Reunion at Tupper Manor at Endicott College
Saturday August 6th Casual Night at the Spear Post where you can enjoy seeing members of the Class of 1960 and 1962
Sunday August 7th BHS Alumni Breakfast at the Danversport Yacht Club where the Class of 1961 will be honored
And all events taking place during Beverly's Homecoming Week
WHAT WE WILL BE MAILING TO YOU
We will be sending you by U.S. Mail a "SAVE THAT DATE" letter and include an "in memory of our passed classmates" list. Sadly, there are over 50 of them. We will also be asking for a donation to honor them. Perhaps a bench for the new BHS?

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
We also need your help. If you have changed your address since the last reunion or know an address for a classmate who is listed as unknown address on the class roster list, please contact Mary Ramsdell Gallant at marygallant@comcast.net. We may have missed some classmates who have passed away. We would appreciate their names if you know of anyone. Mary will keep our webmaster up-to-date with all changes. Mary will also be our "controller of information" and will insure that no personal information (mailing addresses, email addresses, telephone or cellphone numbers) will be posted on this website without your permission. Click here for a list of "missing classmates".
UPDATE 2/1/12: We have received good addresses for all classmates except for the names that have an X (MIA) and of course D (RIP). Should anyone have updated information on these classmates, Mary Gallant would love to hear from you. You can reach her at marygallant@comcast.net. Thank you.

Beverly High salutes 14 new members to its Sports Hall of Fame
The ninth annual induction ceremony for the Beverly High School Sports Hall of Fame was held on Saturday, March 26 at the Danversport Yacht Club. Click here for a list, photos and accomplishments of the 14 new Hall of Fame members.
CLASS OF 1961 INDUCTEES:
Bill Earle
During his three years as a Beverly High School athlete, Bill Earle, a 1961 graduate, exhibited a passion for football. The three-year letterman was co-captain of Hall of Fame Coach Roy Norden’s first undefeated, untied team in 1960, leading them to a 9-0 season. The Boston Herald and Lynn Item selected him as First-Team All-Star tackle. “Bill was the main reason why only 36 points were scored against all season,” The Herald noted. A member of the indoor and outdoor track teams, Bill consistently threw over 40 feet in the shot put to help the indoor and outdoor track teams win in his junior and senior year. All three teams he played on were undefeated. Bill went on to play football at Brown University, where he started at defensive tackle for four years. His career has been as a teacher and coach of football, wrestling and track in western Massachusetts and at Thayer Academy in Braintree.
Dave Guinivan
A 1961 graduate of Beverly High School, Dave Guinivan was an outstanding versatile athlete. He was a fierce competitor in baseball, football and basketball. Along with past Hall of Famer John Caratu (2005) and new Hall of Fame inductee Bill Earle, Dave led BHS to an undefeated football season in 1960. Dave was the player who led by actions and words and someone teammates looked to for leadership. Dave was an outstanding two-way football player who made big plays when they were needed most and was considered the glue that held the team together. The 1960 team was considered one of the best defensive teams in Eastern Massachusetts high school history, allowing only 36 points while posting four shutouts. Dave played a significant role in perhaps the greatest memorable BHS football game, a 14-8 win over Watertown before an overflowing crowd at Hurd Stadium. On the court, Dave was a key contributor to the basketball team that went on to play in the Tech Tournament at the Boston Garden. On the baseball diamond he was an excellent defensive catcher and consistently delivered clutch hits. Dave received the coveted Sports Club Trophy as the outstanding athlete of the year and was elected by class members as Best Male Athlete in the Class of 1961. Sadly, Dave passed away in the spring of 2010.
