Overcoming rape.

What we need to do to overcome rape.

It is essential that the victim does not clean herself before seeking examination from a doctor. This examination is need in order to prove rape. Doctors will try to find evidence such as seminal fluid, bruises, blood or even hair on the victim's body. A blood test as well as a pregnancy test will be made to determine whether the victim is pregnant or have infected any sexually transmitted diseases from the rapist. Of course, all these medical examinations and tests will only be performed with the victim's consent. A victim is advised to take psychological treatment to help ease her emotions as well as trauma. Many rape victims suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD). A rape victim should get help from the police, medical authorities or even non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as soon as possible. A rather renown women's NGO in Malaysia suitable for rape victims to turn to is known as AWAM which is short-form for All Women's Action Society. Police reports can be made at any government hospital. The police will investigate the case best they can and arrest the suspect. Another key factor to overcome rape is that a victim should always turn to her loved ones for support. It can be someone of the family or even friends. Never ever blame yourself if you were raped because it damn well was not yours. Women wearing sexily or behaving seductively is not the cause of rape.
