An introduction to RAPE.

What is rape?

Pronunciation: reyp
Rape is defined as an illicit sexual intercourse with a person without his or her approval. Sex with or without the consent of a person below the age of 16 is considered rape. Rape can be any kind of sexual activity that a person does not agree to, ranging from touching to penetration. Rape is considered a very serious offence even if you are familiar with the person who attacked you -- which means to say that it doesn't matter if the person who assaulted you is a spouse, another family member, a friend or even a colleague. This may seem surprising to you but it is considered a crime if the victim doesn't fight back. It would still be regarded as a crime if the victim was drunk, high on drugs or even unconscious. Rape victims include men, women, children and even elderly people.
