The Tale of Monty and Clive
Once upon a time there was a wallaby called Clive. As a youngster he was the kind of chap every mother would dream of - helping with the dishes, looking after his younger siblings etc. | But when he hit puberty it was a different matter entirely. He grew his claws long, and was often caught up to no good. |
So his mother decided he would have to be sent away. "New continent, new start", she thought. So he sailed away for a year and a day, and came to the green and leafy shores of England.
Having
hopped inland for many days, he came to rest one in
evening in a lush field. "I could just fancy a rabbit for my tea..." he thought to himself. |
Such had been Clive's frenzy in his persuit of the rabbit, that he had not realised that he was not alone. |
He needed
time to think. Perhaps, just perhaps... |
After much practice, Clive felt competent to tackle fences, and was truly ready to make his escape. |
During the meantime, Clive's activities had caught the media's attention. | So one afternoon, Monty and Clive made a break for it. |
A crack team of zoo keepers was called in and they hunted high and low for that wallaby. | Yet all they found were the casualties. |
As the tension rose, so did Clive's belief in his own invincibility. If he hadn't tried to pass himself off as a zoo keeper, he would probably have got away scott-free. | They caught up with him in a small town 12 miles to the south of Amsterdam. |
Another one in the bag for justice. | Clive went into rehab. |
And was eventually able to lead a perfectly normal life in captivity.
Monty was sent home in disgrace.
