Tonight is the Dads Night Out at Jacksons Pub in Gretna. 8pm. The bar is between the outlet malls and the city of Gretna. It is next to the Runza on the west side of the hwy.

Ride Share and Designated Drivers
If you are interested in sharing a ride to Dads Night Outs or any other event, sign up for the yahoo message board (link down left side of this page). Post your location in Omaha/Lincoln and how to get ahold of your bad self. The KC dads use this and it works pretty well. Its a good way to get to know other dads as well.

Omaha playgroup update
We had four dads and eight kids at the first playgroup on Friday at the Benson community center. Any of you dads who have older kids getting out of school, the center has a gym for the kids to play b-ball.

Friday Jun 2 Benson Community Center NW Corner 60 & Maple Entrance is on Maple
Friday June 9 playgroup will be at the Henry Doorly Zoo at 10am. Meet at the lion sculpture. Contact Mike at 339-5860 if you haven't met any of the dads so you know who to look for. Or come to Gretna Dads night out Wed May 31 8pm.

Message Board Update
So far we have nine dads signed up on the yahoo message board. If you haven't signed up and are interested in the group, click on the link down the left of the page. This is the best way to keep informed and share info with other dads. Mike and I will not call people to update events (unless you don't have regular computer access). When you sign up, post a quick message about yourself..kids..where you live..etc. Looking forward to seeing and meeting all the dads Friday in Omaha.

Playgroup Reminder
New Omaha playgroup starts Fri May 26 10AM at the Benson Community Center at 60 & Maple NW corner. This will be a regular weekly playgroup until further notice.

If you guys have any more ideas on places to meet, let us know. I thought that I would save indoor places..ie..Childrens Museums, SAC Museum, etc until fall. We will try to do Dads Night Out once a month.

Mahoney State Park Playgroups
Mike and I thought we'd schedule some dates at Mahoney State Park throughout the summer. All dates are nice weather only. If raining, the indoor playground doesn't open until mid-afternoon. Pack a picnic lunch if you don't want to eat at the marina restaurant. We will meet each date at the outdoor playground(by the theatre) at 10 AM. You can stay for awhile or whole day.

MESSAGE BOARD

The LinOma Dads message board is up and running. This is basically an email list of everyone who has shown interest in the group. I have added the link to the left under the KC Dads Link. Any post to the message board will be sent to everyone's email address. This will help us coordinate events. This blog will be updated as well.
There are now two ways to keep us with the group, www.angelfire.com/blog/linomadads/ or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/linomadads.

I have sent out invitations to the dads who have contacted me or Mike, or were at the Omaha dads night out. If you didn't receive an invitation, click on the link to the left and sign up.

Media Updates
There was a brief follow-up by Rainbow Rowell about our group. www.omaha.com and search her name. It is tied to the article about her flying with her family.
There was a good piece on the Today Show early this week. Pete at www.athomedad.com has a link to the video in his newsletter section. It was well done and worth checking out.
Thanks to Mike for setting up the weekly playgroup in Omaha. There are more things coming down the line for Lincoln and Omaha in the near future.

Hey gentlemen. While Phil is getting a little R&R I wanted to give you all an update. I visited the Benson Community Center and I think it looks good.
I set our start date. Fridays at 10:00. Starting Friday May 26. 60th and Maple on the NorthWest corner. Peg Watkins is in charge of the Benson center and I'm really looking forward to working with her. There will be a group e-mail going out to all of you that supplied that to us. I'll call the rest of you.
