Landscap lighting ideas are created in the heart, and in the mind.it can be to create the look of a professional landscape renovation in your own front or back yard. The best thing to do when adding new elements or fixing your landscape, it is put first in paper.

All of really need is a little imagination, the right materials, and the will to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.Plan around large unmovable items like trees and outside buildings including sheds and garages. Remember, you can not move these large objects, so be sure that they fit in with your landscaping

Controls enhance landscape lighting, just as they do interior lighting. Photocells, timers, and motion detectors operate the lights automatically. Switches and dimmers operate manually.

The landscaping there should bring you comfort, security, privacy, and delight to your eyes during the many times you relax around it.

Chandelier Designs Tips
Fashionable and functional, chandeliers should be incorporated into the home just as any decorative accessory or object of art would be chosen.

"I would urge consumers to view this purchase with same enjoyment they would use in buying fine furniture," says Dan Blitzer, educational consultant for the American Lighting Association. "A fine chandelier is an investment that will add to the value of your home."

To find the right style chiandeliers for your home, simply begin with a color or a material that is predominant in the decoration scheme of the room. What catches your eye in the room? What type of statement do you want to make?

If the room is more traditional, choose chandeliers with more ornamentation and decorative details. If your home is modern, opt for less ornamentation and simpler details.

Fixture of Lighting product
Controls Options
Controls enhance landscape lighting, just as they do interior lighting. Photocells, timers, and motion detectors operate the lights automatically. Switches and dimmers operate manually

Timers
Timers provide automatic on/off control, according to how you program them. They are often integrated into transformers and can be wired into 120-volt systems.

Mounting
Mounted on stakes, 12-volt fixtures can be easily reolcated every several years to adjust for the natural growth of trees and plantings.

Transformer
Transformers are sized from 60-1.000 watts, with 150W, 300W, and 600W being the most common. You select one according to the wattage load. Larger transformers include several output taps. Outdoor transformers install to the side of the home and plug into an exterior outlet. They are weatherproof but must generally mount at least 12" above the ground.

Basketball Hoops

A backyard or driveway court can be easily lighted from the roof line. Halogen or HID floods work better than simple PAR-holders because they spread the light and can be shielded to block stray light. Mount fixtures as high as practical to keep light out of players' eyes.

Tennis Courts

Lighting outdoor tennis courts involves high-intensity, well-controlled floodlights (usually metal halide source) mounted on high poles. The layout requires careful engineering to assure even illumination across the courts, without glare or light "trespass" onto neighboring property. Installation of the poles and electrical service needs a qualified electrical contractor.

Pools

Lighting within a pool is specialized and is typically handled by the pool contractor. Area lighting around the pool area (spread lights or downlights at the edge of the paving) helps people to move around at night.

Recommended Driveways and other Exterior Areas
Automobile headlights enable you to drive in the dark, but permanent lighting makes the driveway area much safer by identifying the turn-in, illuminating objects on the drive or children on the side, and guiding drivers around curves. For obvious reasons, lighting around the driveway must be very carefully controlled.

At the turn-in, post-top lights (typically lanterns or globes) announce the property. This equipment is usually line voltage and so requires properly buried conduit. The lights do not have to be very bright to be effective, but don't skimp on durability where the lighting are nearly in public space. Providing spill light on street numbers helps guests to find their way.

To illuminate the pavement or surrounding lawn, place downlights or adjustable accent lights in nearby trees. Shield each fixture with a louver or snoot to control stray light.

Lighting Tips
To get the best balance of illumination in the dining room, opt for layers of light. "The most important thing a homeowner should recognize is that a dining room does not look well-lighted if the only light source is a chandelier," says Blitzer. "A chandelier that is bright enough to illuminate a room will be too bright for comfort when dining. Likewise, if the chandelier's light is comfortable on the eyes, it will be too dim and look flat."

When choosing dining room lighting, start with a chandelier in the middle of the room, then work out with accent lights. The chandelier will determine the room's feeling. Use your imagination. In today's more eclectic decor, even casual homes can have elegant dining rooms.

"You might find casual wrought iron or brushed steel metal fixtures in the home's adjacent "great room" and wrought iron with crystal drops or pendants in the dining room, creating a more romantic, softer setting," Greg Vandia, Vice President Sales and Marketing for New York manufacturer Murray Feiss." That's perfectly acceptable."

When selecting a chandelier, don't worry about the fixture's quality of light as much as its beauty and scale. Chandelier choices include everything from those with exposed bulbs to those with large alabaster diffusing bowls. Trends range from simple Mission-inspired models with mica glass to ornate brass filigree with crystal pendants.

"Finish is the most important factor today and it should compliment surrounding furnishings and accessories; not match or contrast," says Rick Wiedemer, CLC, President of Hinkley Lighting, Inc., a manufacturer in Cleveland, OH. "The finish selected will then determine the material."

Recommended Entry Lighting
Lighting at the primary entry must satisfy the combined needs for security and aesthetics. To light the lock and identify visitors as they approach, use wall-mounted lanterns on either side of the door, or a lantern suspended from the portico. Illuminating street numbers attached to the home is a friendly touch. Recessed downlights also work but render faces in shadow, which is unattractive. At secondary entrances, you can use single lantern, or simpler fixture.

Selecting Lanterns
When selecting lanterns, consider the lighted appearance and effect at night. A beautiful ornament may not provide sufficient light, or it may be too glary. Use other fixtures to augment the light from a decorative lantern and assure visibility, comfort, and elegance. Consider the scale and importance of the entry when selecting fixture size.

Steps and Passageways
Be sure that light reaches steps and other changes in grade. This is particularly important for older people. To light breezeways and other passages between buildings, you can use surface-mounted downlights, enclosed utility fixturesfixtures, or a simple lantern. Control fixture brightness by using low wattage lams (and more fixtures if needed). The brighter the fixture itself, the harder it is to see the ground or anything around you.

Recommended Garden Lighting
Think of garden or landscape lightinglandscape lighting as accent lighting for the exterior of the home. Lighting can be planned before the landscaping is complete, but it always requires a clear understanding of the trees and foliage involved. Recognize the difference between mature and growing vegetation; provide the flexibility to relocate accent lights for growing trees.

Visit the site; it is difficult to work from plans or photographs. And see it at night. Determine what to light, the effects desired, and finally the equipment required. Provide convenient controls.

If too much is highlighted, nothing stands out. Choose several features - trees, walls or sculptures - for focus.

Integrate the Lighting
Integrate the landscape and interior lighting concepts. gardens offer engaging vistas and pleasing pathways; circulation areas demand secure but unobtrusive lighting. Establish a clear organization of path and garden light that conveys people through the exterior into the home.

Eliminate Glare
Carefully place and aim the light sources to avoid direct glare. No bright light source should be visible. Keep patio lighting below seated eye level. Use accessory shielding where necessary.

Some Tips and Tricks for cleaning crystal
Before cleaning, put a towel or blanket under your crystal chandelier so that, if you dislodge a piece of crystal, your table or floor won’t suffer a nick (and the crystal is more likely to survive).

Never twirl or rotate your crystal chandelierscrystal chandelier. When cleaning, walk or move your ladder around the chandelier and clean in sections. By rotating a chandelier, you risk loosening its support, which could cause the chandelier or its crystals to fall.

To brighten the whole chandelier, be sure and wipe the light bulbs. But wait till they’re completely cool. Never touch bulbs with anything wet; it can cause them to shatter.

Never put crystal in the dishwasher!
