Cubbies take 2 of 3 from the Astros by winning the rubber match on Sunday 5-3. Kenny Lofton, the new addition for the Cubs, went 3 for 5 coming up a home run short of the cycle. Mark Grudzielanek hit only his third home run of the year. Eric Karros also hit a home run to and increased his batting average to .330 which leads the team. Sammy Sosa also chipped in with a home run to increase his total to a team leading 22. Shawn Estes got the win to bring his season total to 7-8.For the Astros, Hidalgo and Bagwell hit home runs to contribute. Robertson was tagged with the loss, his first since April. A combined 11 pitchers were in the game, with Joe Borowski earning his 19th Save of the Year. The Cubs pulled to within 4-1/2 of Houston with the win.................................................................................................................................................................. I have a real problem with the Lions getting fined because of not interviewing minority candidates. It is their choice who they hire. Obviously, Mariucci is the most qualified candidate that the Lions were going to find. More to come.
