Rules:

If you are interested in adopting a Neopet, there are certain rules you must follow.

1. You may only adopt one Neopet per month.

2. You may only adopt a Neopet if you have been a member of Joy is Good! for two weeks.

3. You may only adopt a Neopet if your account is at least one month old.

4. If the owner of the Neopet refuses your request to adopt their Neopet, do not send them a hateful response. They have the right to give the Neopet to whomever they chose.

5. If someone else adopts the Neopet from the Neopian Pound before you, do not send the person you were adopting the Neopet from a hateful neomail. There is a chance someone else will adopt the Neopet before you. Always keep in mind there are risks when transfering Neopets, someone else may see the Neopet before you adopt it.

Things to keep in mind:

1. Do not become too attached to the Neopet you want to adopt before you actually adopt it, as there is a chance someone else will get it before you do.

2. There are many people refreshing at the Neopian Pound looking for Neopets, so you must be quick. When the owner tells you they have placed the Neopet up for adoption, act as fast as you can. The quicker you are, the better you chances of getting the Neopet you want.

3. No one else in the guild will know when the Neopet you want is going to be placed in the pound unless you tell them. So, you may not want to tell anyone since not everyone is nice. If you tell them, they might go to the pound and try to adopt it before you do. If this happens, there isn't anything we can do about it, so you may want to keep this to yourself until you have the Neopet.

4. Make sure you have some Neopoints with you before you attempt to adopt the Neopet! This is very important, as all the Neopets in the Neopian Pound cost money to adopt. No matter how quick you are, if you don't have any Neopoints with you, you won't be able to adopt.

How to adopt a Neopet:

1. Neomail the owner of the Neopet you want to adopt. Just one neomail explaining why you are the right owner for that Neopet. The owner may receive neomails from several different people wanting to adopt the same Neopet as you, so make sure you explain why you should be able to adopt the Neopet. If they deny your request, don't send them a hateful neomail. Chances are, they aren't just being a jerk, they probably decided that another person might make a better owner than you. I know that makes them sound like a jerk, but keep in mind they are doing this to keep people joyous.

2. Set a date that both of you will be on Neopets. They will neomail you before they put the Neopet in the pound with instructions on how to adopt them.

3. Once you received your first message telling you to go to the pound and prepare, type or copy and paste this URL into your address bar - http://www.neopets.com/process_adopt.phtml?pet_name=NEOPETSNAMEHERE Make sure you put the Neopet's correct name where it says NEOPETSNAMEHERE. If it says "Terrible sorry, this Neopet already has an owner," don't freak out. Most likely the owner hasn't abandoned the Neopet yet. Once you go to that address, reply to the message telling them you are ready. They will then send you another message saying they will put the Neopet in the pound in 30 seconds Now, just keep refreshing the page, over and over, until it says you have adopted the Neopet.

4. Give your new friend a big kiss.
