I am one of the people against the death penalty but am partly verging on agreeing to a certain extent. Before you think "Oh so she agrees with murder then?", I'll just say that I do understand why people are for the death penalty but I'd like to put my views across. Here are some reasons why I am against it.
1) Killing a murderer makes you just as bad as the person that committed the crime.
2) The police force are not as careful as they should be, they could execute the wrong person.
3) Two wrongs do not make a right.
4) Murderers and sex offenders should be made to suffer, their life and suffering should not be ended just like that. They should be made to live with their crime.
5) If it is all over and done with by killing the person the victim's family/the victim will feel bitter that they didn't their revenge.
6) There are worse things than dying
7) It's in-humane.
8) If the police locked up the person that committed the crime and made a mistake they could give the person their freedom back but if they were executed the police couldn't give them their life back.
9) It could cause more bad than good... The murderers/sex offenders family could go through such grief that they kill themselves, therefore causing more deaths.
Those are some of the reasons why I am against it... but as many people that agree with it would say it's their taxes that are paying to keep these people alive. This brings me to my next subject.
Life in jail should mean life
4 or 5 years is not enough for these people to "learn their lesson" and then come back and do it again, it’s like those boys that tortured that little 2 year old boy. Those 12 and 13 year old boys were given a second chance with new identities and now they are around 16-17 and walking the streets with new names and everything.
Prison should not be enjoyable. They should be locked up with a big view of what they would have if they were free. They should be made to work hard and not get any treats. End of topic.
