Ventrilo
Introduction
Ventrilo is a voice-chat program. It allows user to communicate with others through a microphone plugged into the computer. Most important thing: allows conversations with multiple people.
Requriements
-a microphone (or any other voice-input device)
-speakers (everybody has it..., I think)
Go to http://www.ventrilo.com and then go to "Downloads"
Download/Open the Client Program (Step 1)
Choose "Open" (recommended)(Step 2)
Follow the instructions and get the program installed.
Your First "Connection"
First start the program
Click on the arrow beside the username box to configure your username.
Click on "New" to create a new user
Click "OK" to return to the main menu
* the Phonetic box is where you choose how you want the program to read your name, eg: Your username may be "Tom", but if you enter "Tommy" in the Phonetic box, the computer will pronouce your name as "Tommy"
Next, configure the server options
Click "New" to create new server. (it doesn't mean that you're the server, you're just setting options for connecting to a specific server)
Ask your friend (the host of the server)for the IP of the server.
Don't worry about the port number, justclick OK to return to the menu after you finished with entering the IP
Go setup the program
*the hotkey is the press that you hold to sent messages (Ventrilo works the same way a Walky-Talky does)
*adjust the inbound and outbound if the volume is "not properly conficgured". -Increase/decrease the outbound if others think you are too loud/quiet
-Increase/decrease the inbound if you think others are too loud/quiet
After you completed the steps above, return to the main menu
If you're told that the server is newer that your client program, then delete Ventrilo from your computer (by going to Control Panel--> Add/Remove Programs), then follow the "How to Install" instructions to reinstall Ventrilo
