Chapter 6
Joey held on to the locket to keep it safe. Everyone watched as Britney attacked Justin and Shannon, yet no one would pull them apart. Finally, Chris jumps in and starts yelling, pulling them apart. "Dammit Britney, I’ve had enough of you! I’ve hated you ever since I met you, and now you are totally ruining Justin’s day! You need to get the hell out of you before I call the cops!" She stood up, fixing her rumpled shirt. "Fine then, just let this be a lesson; never mess with the one and only Britney!" She finally made her exit, but not without sticking her tongue out at Shannon. Justin slowly stood up and fixed himself to be presentable once again while Shannon straightened herself up as well.
"I’m sorry I ruined everyone’s day, I never meant for any of this to happen," Justin said as the tears started to fall again. JC came forward from the back of the crowd. "Its okay, bro. Its nothing you did. It was all Britney." Justin let a smile escape from his lips as he fumbled through his pockets again. He made sure he had everyone attention again. "Lance, make sure that Britney doesn’t come back in here, I don’t want this moment ruined." He turned to Shannon, who was still trying to fix herself up to look normal again. She was looking down at the ground and didn’t even realize he was looking at her. He let out a sigh and asked Joey for the locket. Joey handed it to him and he put it back on, holding it tightly. Shannon still didn’t look up. He ran his fingers through his hair once again and slowly lifted Shannon’s head so that she was looking into his eyes. Tears started to fall again and she looked at him intently. "What’s wrong sweetie?," she asked softly. He swallowed hard and once again, tried to form the words to say.
"I just wanted to tell you how much you truly mean to me. Without you, I don’t think I would be here today. You’ve made me see so much, and I love you with all my heart." She started to weep softly as he spoke. Justin went through his pockets again, pulling out a small box that looked like the one she gave him in the car on the way to JC’s. Her tears started falling faster as he cleared his throat. Looking around, seeing everyone staring at them was all he needed to break down in tears again. Slowly, he lowered himself onto one knee as Shannon followed him with her eyes. Crying harder, she looked at him in the eyes. She saw nothing but love and compassion in his eyes. He fumbled with the small box, trying to open it. Finally, he was successful and everyone heard Shannon gasp. "Shannon, you are the world to me, will you marry me?" She was completely ecstatic as she sank down onto her knees. She just couldn’t hold herself up from all the event that just occurred. Justin looked at her deeply, waiting for her answer. She finally calmed down a little bit and barely was able to squeak out a small "yes".
