Chapter 17
Shannon’s mouth dropped when he told her that he saw Britney sitting at another table. "Don’t worry about it right now. She wouldn’t do anything while everyone is around." They went on eating their meals, making small talk in the meanwhile. Needless to say, the dinner was uneventful, except for when Joey stuck straws up his nose and started acting silly. Then again, that was normal for him to do things like that.
Finally, they decided that it was time to head home as it was starting to get late. Chris, Justin, and Shannon headed to the house, but picked up a video on the way home. Once they were home, they went right to the TV and popped in the movie that they rented. During the credits, they started talking about their pasts. Chris thought it was the neatest thing that Shannon knew Mr. McConnell and that she was in Oliver 14 years after he was; and being at the same school and under the same director. "You know, I really love living down here with you guys, but I get homesick a lot. I would love to just go home to Oil City, if even only for a week." Justin put his arm around her. Chris got a smile on his face, "Well, why don’t you then?" Shannon moved away from Justin and crossed her arms. "You mean you want me to leave?" Chris laughed, "Of course not. Why don’t the three of us take a road trip up to Pennsylvania? That way I can see my family, you can see yours, and Justin can meet yours and get away from all the problems down here." Shannon jumped up off the couch. "Are you serious?! That would be so great! I haven’t seen my friends in so long!" She ran over and gave Chris a big hug and asked when they could go. "How about Wednesday?" She thought for a second. It was only two days away. "That would be great! I can’t wait to see them all again. Oh, and Justin! While we are there, we HAVE to go to the club. You would really like it there. There is even this kid that goes there that looks so much like you." Chris turned his attention to Shannon, "A club? Count me in!"
The next day, they spend the day packing and getting ready to go to Pennsylvania. Chris walked into their bedroom, bumping into the wall as he walked in. "Why are you covering your eyes?," Shannon asked him, trying not to laugh. "Just incase you and Justin are doing things that my eyes shouldn’t see." Justin laughed at his friend. "Uncover your eyes, we aren’t doing anything." Chris did and just laughed. "I talked to my cousin. He said that we could stay with them if we wanted to." Shannon frowned, as much as she liked Dan, she didn’t really want to stay with him. "Oh, well, my cousin said we could stay with her." Chris smiled, "Her? Well, I think we’ll stay with her, only because she is a girl." Shannon threw a pillow at him. "You are such a pervert!"
Later in the day, Justin called over to JC’s house. Lance answered the phone, and Justin didn’t waste anytime getting to the point. "Hey man, we are going up to Pennsylvania because Shannon is a little homesick and Chris wants to see his family." Lance let out a breath, "And you are going without us?" Justin ran his hands through his hair, "Well, we didn’t think you wanted to go!" Lance answered back right away, "Of course we want to go! We need to get out of town for a few days!" Justin could hear Joey in the background. "Why don’t you guys just come over here and we can talk about it?, "Justin told Lance. Lance agreed and soon, they were on their way over to their house.
Once they got there, they found out that Jessica and JC wouldn’t be tagging along. She has to finish her album, and she and JC can’t take the time off. "We are leaving early on Wednesday morning. So be over here bright and early that way we can get there, "Justin told them. Lance and Joey didn’t stay long, they had to go home and pack. Shannon gave Justin a big hug. "I can’t believe I’m going home to see my friends and family!," she exclaimed.
