The Mother is Glowing
- My webpage will inform mothers and mothers-to-be how to have a healthy, and comfortable pregnancy while learning about the trimesters and what to expect during them. The articles I will be discussing will show the importance of a healthy mother during her pregnancy and how it affects the newborn.
- In the first stage of birth the mother is just learning about becoming pregnant and may have mixed feelings about the pregnancy. Often times the mother deals with the fantasies or dreams about the child once it is born. At this stage of the pregnancy the mother stats to think more about herself and the changes in the hormones that are appearing physically and emotionally. For the majority couples sexual activity is greatly reduced. Physical changes that may occur during the first trimester consist of missed menstrual periods, breast change, frequent urination, weight gain, fatigue, nausea and vomiting. Backache is another popular discomfort during the first trimester. Ways to treat this is to correct poor posture, stand with one leg slightly in front of the other and slightly rock back and forth, sleeping on a firm mattress, squat while picking things up and wearing low shoes. Heartburn can be another discomforting pain in this trimester is when the sphincter relaxes allowing food and digestive juices to go back up into the esophagus. Ways to calm this are eating small portions, avoiding greasy or spicy foods, slow and deep breathing, avoiding eating before bed, but be sure to consult a doctor before taking any antacid medications.
- During the second trimester, your pregnancy becomes more obvious to others. You will become more aware of the changes happening to your body when these changes make you feel more dependent on others. Throughout this part of the pregnancy it is very important that the mother depends her partner and others for emotional stability. The changes in your sexual activity often stabilize although they are unlikely to return to pre-pregnancy levels until after childbirth is complete. The mother to be should not feel any other discomforts during the second trimester. The hormonal changes in your body and the physical pressure of your uterus as it grows can cause a variety of discomforts. Although these problems are common, not every woman will experience them. Dizziness is a common discomfort ways for coping with this are not skipping meals, getting up slowly, and avoiding laying flat on your back. Vaginal itching could be another discomfort. Vaginal itching is caused by the higher concentration of salts in perspiration. Cornstarch can help absorb perspiration. If vaginal discharge is also present contact your care provider. This may indicate a yeast infection. Since the stomach is growing a great deal during this trimester stretch marks may appear on your skin as your body rapidly expands. These usually fade in color several months after the birth although they will not completely disappear specialty lotions will help to prevent this.
- By the third trimester the anticipation for the birth of the child will be extreme for both you and your partner. This trimester is where vulnerability is at its peek. The mother may become impatient with her body. During the last part of the third trimester the mother commonly experiences a change of mood and energy and becomes engaged in setting up and preparing for the new arrival. The mother may have vivid dreams about the child especially if it is the first child. Physically the third trimester is the most uncomfortable. Uncomfortable things can be intense backache, leg cramps, heartburn, shortness of breath, urination more frequently that in previous trimesters, and Braxton-Hicks contractions. All methods for calming these discomforts are the same they are just the pain is more intense in this trimester.
- Some important do’s and don’ts of pregnancy consist of wearing a seat belt correctly. Seat belts used correctly protect you and your unborn during a crash. Seat belt straps should never go across the belly, the strap should go under the belly across the hips. The shoulder strap should go off to the side of the belly and between you breasts. If you are not driving the back seat is the best option. Consuming folic acids during the first 12 weeks of the pregnancy are just the fatty acids the baby needs to for good brain development and health. A don’t that a lot of women forget about is not to change or clean a cat’s litter there is a risk of an infection called toxoplasmosis which is carried in cat feces. Defiantly distress, if you can control the stress in you life. When it comes to work and family, figure out what you can really do. Don’t be afraid to say NO to requests for your time and energy. Consider getting a flu shot. The flu can be very dangerous for moms-to-be. Be sure to eat healthy, loading up on fruits, vegetables and whole grain are very beneficial. Calcium rich foods are needed for the baby’s strong bones and teeth. Chlorine is a natural substance required by the body that is found in food such as eggs. This is said to affect the child life long learning and memory.

- 1. Super Charge Your Baby's Brain
- This article shows the importance about consuming enough choline while pregnant. Choline is a natural substance required by the body that is contained from various foods, such as eggs. Duke University Medical Center and Durham VA Medical Center say that having a mother consume foods rich in choline could affect her child's lifelong learning and memory. So what it is supposed to do is give the child's brain a major boost in cognitive function, diminishing age-related memory decline and reducing the brain's vulnerability to toxic insults. To prove this theory a test was done involving injecting pregnant rats with choline and observing the effects it had on the hippocampus, a brain region critical for learning and memory. The results showed that the neurons were larger and the brain looked like it was working harder and faster. In their conclusions, these tests were linked to humans and suggest that more choline in a mothers diet while pregnant could lead to smarter babies in the long run.
