Charming Castle?
I love him but sometimes Prince Charming forgets to live up to his name. I don't know what it is, but sometimes he forgets that there are two adults in this conversation not a King and subject. He doesn't get to give orders and expect me to follow blindly with yes my lord, and no my lord. I can argue back without him rolling his eyes and tuning me out. One of these days, Prince Charming is going to sigh at me and roll his eyes and tell that this is how it is end of discussion and he is going to get a dainty glass slipper up his charming behind!

But then I know he will call me later and be all sweet and charming and I'll forget to be angry, how frustrating! I am such a whimpy princess!

On the other hand, I have come to the conclusion that my castle was less of castle and more of a dungeon. With dark stained walls and carpets and tiny cracks mislabelled as windows, you could be forgiven for looking for the chains in the walls. And the royal princess is sleeping in a cubby hole in the dark.

Well, I have to go now and let her know her sentence has been commuted on account of good behavior.

Does anyone have intravenous caffiene?
Well it was a late night at the castle last night. The princess of the house deigned sleep unnecessary last night and it frustrated the heck out of Prince Charming. I got up early in the morning, not having had any sleep yet and sent them to their respective corners before there was a war. Prince Charming stomped off into the night to blow off some steam and I cuddled the princess assuring her that the world isn't going to end and daddy does indeed still love her. Prince Charming came back and cuddled her himself and that set things aright with the world. Both Prince and Princess went to bed to merrily sleep the day away. 1 1/2 hours after falling asleep, I was up and on my way to work, bleery eyed and semi-conscious.

Well 2 coffees and 3 Pepsis later I am still here slaving away, and still awake . . . so far . . . someone pass the coffee please.

Maybe life just works out
Well . . . another day another dollar. Cinderella is at it again. Slaving away to put food on the table.

But today, I am in a much better mood. I truly believe that just when I am about to give up and go find the nearest bridge, something comes up to help me out. I just got a call from a job I applied for MONTHS ago. It pays $2000 more a year than my current job.

And, my boss says she is going to give me my review today. It is WAY WAY early! Does anyone else hear that . . . I hear twilight zone music!

Anyway Cinderella may just be feeling a little closer to the happily ever after today than she has been. Sometimes I am grateful that the man upstairs is looking after me. [And no, I don't mean the landlord :-)]

Well I am off to clean the castle walls . . . someone has to do it.

died of hunger?
I wonder has anyone ever died of hunger, sitting at their desk waiting for the hand of the clock to drag its behind up to the 12? I am STARVING and it is only 11:39! How will I ever make it 12? If my pens start to disappear, check for ink stains on my lips.

On the other hand . . . how annoying is the instant messanger service today? Our server keeps blinking on and off so every few minutes I get a bunch of messages that everyone has logged off and then I instantly get messages that they have all logged on! Aaaaauuuuggghh! I got so tired of hearing the knocking, I turned off the sound on my computer.

Oh well I think I am going to go in search of a hammer to bash in the clock now.

Who does the dishes at Cinderellas house?
I wonder . . . who does the dishes at Cinderella?s house. What happened in that happily ever after? Does Prince Charming ever sit and play computer games while Cinderella fumes angrily over a hot stove, muttering about how if this is what the fairy Godmother had in mind she may as well have stayed with her stepmother? Does Cinderella?s kid ever puke on her shoes or finger-paint with her diaper?

I got my fairy tale. Prince Charming came in on a white horse and swept me away. Now what? That?s where the story ends. And where I am now doesn?t feel like a fairy tale anymore.

I mean I didn't expect sunshine and roses all the time, but a little Ozzie and Harriet would be nice. I want to get up in the morning make pancakes for breakfast, kiss my children lightly in the forehead, give them their breakfast and lunch and send them off to school. I want to kiss my husband at the front door and wave as he leaves for work and then great him with a smile and a beer at the door after work with supper in the oven.

Sadly, however, I do not live in Leave It to Beaverland. I don't know where I took the wrong turn but this isn't what I signed up for. I didn't know back then that I would getting up at some ungodly hour while my husband (who has only deigned it worthy to come to bed with me 2 hours earlier) lies peacefully sleeping. I didn't know that I would call home at lunch and I would have to worry about waking up my family. I didn't know that I would come home tired after work and dig right in cleaning up toys, shoes, coats, clothes and dishes until I get to the kitchen and make supper for everyone. And I didn't know that after working my tail off all week, I would get my paycheque and wonder if I should get food or pay bills with it because I can't do both.

Now, I will admit that Cinderella meets Leave it to Beaver may have been a little much to expect but for god's sake tell me that this isn't the only stop inbetween.

Oh well, Tune in next time when the 'Beav' and 'Whitey' get into mischief.
