The Human Genome Project is a 13-year effort to help solve the big question of what are all of the 30,000 genes in the human DNA? The projects other goal were to: determine the sequences of the 3 billion chemical base pairs that make up human DNA,
store this information in databases,
improve tools for data analysis, and
transfer related technologies to the private sector.
The Human Genome Project came to and end in 2003. The project completed an accurate and complete copy of the human genome sequence!
