1953

Rosalind Franklin was experienced in macromolecular materials. These materials were difficult to interpret, but Franklin seemed to be the best at the interpretations. Franklin, with the help of Maurice Wilkens, were determined to find the structre of DNA by x-ray diffration of DNA fivers. In the Marchof 1953 they presented a rearch report that included the following key results based on experimental evidence: that DNA contained two strands arranged in a coaxil helical structure with a type of symmetry described as "C2," and that the phosphates were on teh outside of the helix.

This photograph helped Waston and Crick discover the structure of DNA, but they used this photo without Franklins permission and didn't mention her name in any of their papers. Conclusion, they stole from Franklin and did not give her the proper credit she deserved. Franklin was also denied the Nobel Prize because one of the rules was that no more then three people may recieve the prize and since she died of cancer, the prize cannot be given to a dead person.
