My Pet Kitty Cat

Houdini, the Florist

I think Houdini used to be a florist in another life (one of her nine lives). She loves flowers and plants and especially dirt! She really likes to play with the long, skinny leaves that fall off of some of the plants that now are also neglected because of me. We also think she might have been a secretary because the fax machine, printer, and telephone cord drive her wild!

So here are some photos of Houdini posing with her flowers. My favorite is the one with the white roses. My parents think she could be a cat model, but they don't want to exploit her. (They say the same thing about me. They think I could be the next Gerber baby, but then they are very biased. Better to be a Gerber baby, than a Friskies cat!)

A Sad Kitty Tale

Get the hanky out because this is a sad tale about Houdini. But don't worry, it has a happy ending.

Poor Houdini is an orphan. My parents say that her mommy died and if the pound hadn't found really nice foster parents to hand feed her, she wouldn't be alive today. We don't know if she has any brothers or sisters. Like me, she might be an only child.

Mommy and Daddy say that Houdini picked them at the shelter. She immediately perked up in her cage when she saw them and wanted to play. Another little boy and girl saw her at the same time and wanted her too. Daddy said no way and rushed out to start the adoption papers!

Poor Dini (her nickname) had fleas, worms, and a cold when she first came home. She was a pitiful sight (yet still adorable) and my parents took her to the vet and made her well. Dini had several worrisome ailments in her first few months of life (kind of like me). She got tumors from getting vaccinated, so now she doesn't have to have any shots. Lucky cat! She also has some weird illness called hyperesthesia which affects only a small percentage of cats. All I know about it is that I can't rub her fur backwards. Leave it to Dini to get "The Seezha" as my parents call it.

The happy ending is that she is a relatively healthy and well taken care of pussy cat with lots of "gravy licking" good food to eat and her own special place to sleep. I could tell you more sob stories about how Dini nearly died from pesticide and how she fell from the second floor of our apartment, but I don't want to bore you with all the details. Besides enough about her--I'm sure you didn't visit "my" website to hear all about our cat. But contrary to what she thinks, I LOVE MY DINI CAT VERY MUCH!
