My Pet Kitty Cat

The "Other" Child

We have a pet kitty cat. Her name is Houdini. She was named Houdini because she is always trying to escape and when she was a baby at the pound, she would manage to unlock her cage and get out to play.

Houdini claims that she is the first child, but that's not true. Even though she has lived in this house longer than me, I am the first born child! At first she didn't like me at all. Then we both ignored each other. Now I love her and laugh when I see her, especially when she is eating. However, she is only starting to warm up to me. I punched her in the nose once when she tried to get on my diaper changing table and ever since then she has had a new respect for me. I just had to show her who was boss!

Anyhow she always refers to me as the "other" pet, so I call her the "other" child. Some day we will both play together in peace and harmony. But first I have to learn how to pet properly instead of grabbing fistfuls of fur!

Halloween Cat

Houdini's birthday is on Halloween. She was born on October 31, 1995. She will almost be five years old! Sometimes when Houdini gets scared she will arch her back and jump in the air. She looks and acts just like a Halloween cat!

Here are some pictures that were taken on Houdini's Halloween birthdays. She sure was a spoiled kitty before I came along and ruined it all. Now she is the poor neglected kitty. (Dont' tell Animal Protective Services though, I'd hate for them to take her away!)

Description of My Kitty

Houdini is an American (me too!) Short Haired (me too!) female cat. She has a very soft white tummy. When she is feeling happy and secure, she will let my parents rub her belly. She is gray with black stripes and has a black "M" on her forehead. (She thinks the M stands for Master, but she is wrong.) She has slightly slanted eyes that change colors but mostly look golden yellow. Sometimes at night her eyes are shiny green and kind of scare me.

Houdini also has some brown spots on her fur that my parents claim just mysteriously appeared after she slipped on a plate of maple syrup, but I don't believe it. (Is that how my newly acquired birthmark on my face occured?)

Here are some pictures of Houdini when she was a tiny kitty. Look at how my Daddy holds her like a real baby. I guess he was practicing for when I came into the world.

Houdini and Me

Enjoy these pictures of Houdini and I together because they are a rare occurence. We don't spend much time together because for some reason she still is a little bit scared of me. Perhaps it is the really loud, high pitched shrieks I emit whenever she is nearby. I'm just attempting to make "meow" sounds, but she doesn't get it. (Neither do my parents. However my Auntie Cyd says she likes to hear my shrieks, but then she doesn't live with us!)

MEOWWWWWWWW!!!!!
