And On With More Debbie Does Dating

The one with the GI Joe Figurine:
I met a man who could be Apollo! Yes I did. He was one of our own armed service members. I'll call him GI Joe since he was in the service and his name just happened to be Joe. I met him at the beach one weekend that one of my girly friends had gone with me and my parents there. My parents had a place there, so I went alot. I was 18 about this time. Shawn and I met these two hunks of the men race and spent the afternoon sunbathing with them. We made plans to meet them the following week in our town. Well, they met us at the mall and we went to a near town and ate at a supper club. GI Joe could dance as good as he looked. My oh my! This man was a keeper! But I had a problem. See Deb got confused again about what was being said to her in the past. My mama had told me when I was 14 to stay away from the marines when I was up at the beach! She had told me this ONLY because of my young age! I thought she disliked them all together because my real father had been in the navy and they were long divorced or the whole group of them were wild on leave. So.....we had a wonderful date and he was the best kisser this side of the boonies, but Deb had to stop it before it went to far! He called me a couple times and sent me flowers. I told him we couldn't see each other due to my pressing college schedule. What pressing college schedule? Shoot, I showed up when I had to and partied nightly! The moral to the GI Joe that got away is this. Pay attention when your mama talks to you child! Years later she told me she often wished I had met a nice serviceman and settled down! I HAD ONE !!! I told her about GI Joe and she couldn't believe I had thought she disliked servicemen. She said 14 and 18 made alot of differance in age, and she would have loved to have met him. Deb lost this one because of her own stupidity! Hey GI Joe! Give Deb a call. Deb's matured some and I think my hearing problem is much better!
