Sauquillo Ranks 3rd in Flairtending Competition
Monday, 9 August. 2006
B.S. Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) sophomore and CBE Women’s Volleyball Team varsity player Sandra Maureen E. Sauquillo ranked third place in the female category of the Cocktail Mixing and Flairtending Competition held at the City College of Tagaytay (CCT), Tagaytay City, Cavite last June 28.

The competition was part of the Seminar on Bartending hosted by Tanduay Distillers, Inc. in cooperation with CCT. The seminar was attended by a total of 36 HRM students from CBE and other students from surrounding colleges and universities.

Aside from Sauquillo, third year HRM student Jehro G. Valenzuela and second year HRM student Mark Christian D. Sañez participated in the competition.

Among the other schools who partook of the seminar-competition were the Rosario, Naic and Cavite City branches of CvSU; as well as the University of Perpetual Help, GMA (Gen. Mariano Alvarez); the Rogationist College, Silang; St. Jude College, Dasmariñas; and CCT.

In an interview, CBE Dean Alice T. Valerio praised Sauquillo for winning in the event. “I’m very glad for [her] accomplishment, considering that she was trained for only two days,” she said. “How much more if she was trained for a longer period of time?”

Dr. Valerio also mentioned that, in September, Sauquillo will be entering a similar contest in Manila to compete with the universities in that area.

Sauquillo was trained and accompanied by HRM Instructor Angelito T. Lunasin, Jr.
