Kudos for Cavite State for its Century
Monday, 9 Oct. 2006
One hundred years of producing quality graduates to contribute to the working force in CALABARZON is indeed a remarkable achievement for the Cavite State University. Kudos Cavite State University!

Thus, we have to look at our centennial celebration not only as a way of recognizing the achievements of the thousand of graduates our institution has produced, but we also have to focus on other major accomplishments of CvSU which are worthy of commendation. Perhaps, the most outstanding was the conversion of DSAC into Cavite State University on 22 January 1998 by virtue of Republic Act No. 8486. Thanks for the great men and women behind the conversion.

As the former Don Severino Agricultural College metamorphosed into a green and clean multi-campus university with branches in the four towns of Cavite namely: Carmona, Imus, Naic and Rosario, and in two cities, Cavite and Trece Martirez, its surroundings have improved alot. Additional buildings were constructed. To name a few are the five-storey University Library, the gymnasium, Nursing and Information Technology buildings, dormitories and even comfort rooms. Old buildings, classrooms, laboratory rooms, and offices were renovated; ceiling fans and air-con units were installed and more instructional equipment were acquired. All these improvements make the teaching-learning and working environment more enjoying and relaxing. Another remarkable accomplishment of the University is its additional course offerings, and strong faculty. CvSU now offers 68 curricular programs in all campuses and 78.66 percent of its faculty has MS/MS units and PhD/PhD units, who can deliver their goods to the fullest to provide quality education in their different field of specialization and help produce morally upright and globally competitive individuals. Moreover, CvSU has gained regional and national recognition through its Research and Extension Services. It established linkages with government and non-government agencies to finance and support research and extension projects. Among these are DOST, DTI, DAR/DA and DOE. CvSU also gained recognition for having been designated as the Center of Development in Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering and its membership to the National Coffee Research Development Board. Again, Kudos to CvSU! May the University continue to face the challenges that lie ahead and may its continuing commitment and dedication be your potent tools to bring about change and more significant accomplishments.

In a solemn ceremony, CvSU officials led by Dr. Ruperto S. Sangalang, CvSU president, hoisted the CvSU Centennial banner with the ceremonial installation of the University centennial logo at the University Plaza, 03 January. The ceremony signalled the year-long celebration in 2006.

During the raising rite, Hon. Erineo "Ayong" Maliksi, Cavite Governor, and Hon. Lope D. Tepora, mayor of Indang, raised the Provincial Flag to the singing of the CvSU Hymn. Singing of the CvSU Hymn followed with the hoisting of CvSU banner by Pres. R.S. Sangalang and VP Lutgarda P. Ilagan. The Campus deans later raised their respective campus banners. Finally, the centennial banner was hoisted by the Former Prime Minister Cesar E.A. Virata and VP Lorna L. Penales.

During the ceremonial logo installation, Dr. C. EA Virata led the CvSU academic community. Dr. Lorenzo C. Lapitan, Jr. later read the significance and meaning of the logo. After which, 100 white, yellow and green balloons were released signifying the tenets of truth, excellence and service, for which the university stands and lives by. The ceremony was capped by a campus tour led by the CvSU Administrative Council of the different buildings with replica of the Centennial Logo at the Main Campus. The Science High School Drum and Lyre Band accompanied the entourage in some selected venues. The deans of the different colleges led their respective faculty, employees and students in showing their own chants and cheers with confetti, dances and flaglets.
