TRAVEL DIARY

jetsetting across foreign lands, you
touched down, smiling and disoriented,
ready to take on the city
with all its nooks and crannies

so armed with your hand-me-down
travel guide, and a big heart,
you gallivanted across the land,
traversing the length of the River Thames
with nary a step in between,
a rushing tramp across Trafalgar Square.

when finally As You Liked It, tickets in hand,
you flopped contented in Regent’s Park
and i heaved a sigh of relief.
rested but only to walk again
in a few short minutes.

DANDELION

holding your slender stem,
carefully whispering
into wavering petals and fragile stalk,
blindly hoping that tender words
could hold you together
and keep
your delicate form
intact
in cupped
palm of my hand.

but warm winds
beckoned you to join them
and when a gust came
you refused to let me
shelter you, and chose to
crumble and escape,
fluttering with the breeze,
dipping scattered petals
in a hasty goodbye.

leaving me with but
stardust
and
fast-fading
memories.
