A Wampanoag Sobaheg Recipe
When the colonists arrived at Plymouth Rock, they learned to eat what the Native Americans were enjoying. This Wampanoag Indian recipe called Sobaheg is a stew. It calls for ground sunflower seeds, winter squash, beans, grits, turkey meat, green beans and water.

Try some of these recipes that are authentic to 18th century American. Recipes include apple tansy, Carolina fish muddle, gazpacho, gingerbread and wassail, peanut soup, Pennsylvania dutch apple dumplings, shepherd's pie, veal chop with celery, mushrooms, thyme and port wine and welsh rabbit. The recipes are from various taverns.

The History of Marmalade
The Romans first discovered how fruit pectin will gel and they used their jelly as medicine. A lot of the ancients were using jelly as medicine. Queen Mary Tudor used it to become pregnant (did not work). Contains other interesting tidbits about marmalade.

Cake boards have been used in cake making since ancient times. This article covers the cake board up to now, when the cake board can be found as an antique decoration on modern walls. I guess making a mark with cakes or cake boards is nothing new.
